Looky here. Ralph gives us a sneak peek into UCLA road uniform. I like the move to going back to the classic road look. Plus there is the awesome tribute to Coach in the helmet.
I rather forget about that "changes" that took place under the previous coaching regime. To be fair the change in road uni was not as monstrously ugly and repulsive like the black home uniforms Lavin rolled out back in the day. Still I like the move to go back to the classic look. Reminds me of the time when we used to legitimately contend and win the conference.
GO BRUINS.

I agree, I like the classic look, always have always will.
Props to ucla for creating a logo to represent Coach. Using the pyramid is wonderful. It looks great and classy as well.
Go Bruins!
Diggin it
Great changes, I always liked the previous generation of road jerseys. BTW, it would be kinda cool to have a Cade era throwback as well.

The anticipated reveal, the big sneak-peak into the new road look. Without further adieu Bruin fans…I present to you the 2010 road jersey to be donned by our ANCHOR, our stabilizing presence in the backfield..

Can't say that I'm excited
about the change, personally. I liked last year’s look, as it’s closer to UCLA blue than this year’s Michigan blue. Seeing the jersey also reminds me how stupid the new Pac-10 highway sign logo looks. I do think the Pyramid for Coach is great, just wish it were bigger. Great to hear that it will be on every UCLA jersey in every sport; that’s how it should be.
Roses are red, violets are blue...f*** $C.
I agree
We’ve discussed this point many many times here but how many different colors of blue are we going to roll out before we finally settle on one? To be honest, I always liked the navy blue on the unis and i think these latest iterations look great, particularly with the tribute to Coach on the helmet, but I’d really like to see more consistency.
There’s a reason we have trouble “blueing out” the rose bowl for home games when every UCLA hat, jersey, t shirt and flag is a different shade of blue. Just my 2 cents.

True Blue ???
I thought the goal of changing the blue to True Blue for every Bruin team was so that everything was uniform in color …. so now we go back to the Navy Blue which is NOT our color .. its CALS color !!…. and I agree with Double Trouble Bruin !
You are absolutely right
We need to decide and stick with our school colors! (Whatever they are)

Classic Look?
What time era constitutes the Classic Look?
UCLA is known around the country as having a unique blue in its home uniforms, in fact one within the athletic apparel field the color is called “UCLA” blue with a specific PMS “powder blue” color (as opposed to similar blues of Columbia or North Carolina) that goes back to Red Sanders.
As such, why wouldn’t the UCLA away jersey, carry some semblance of that Classic color…as within the block lettering.
Maybe the problem is that the 2009 color was refered to as Air Force blue (by Tony Perri the Ops Mgr), when it should have been the UCLA blue.
Speaking of service academies, the UCLA away jersey looks similar to the Navy away uniform, except for the shoulder gusset…and also to Notre Dame’s away uni.
So much for a unique Classic-UCLA look…

Ugh
very disappointed with this development. Sure the only thing that matter is the product on the field, but the constant tinkering with the colors is driving me nuts. How about Texas using Tennessee Orange for their away unis? Not a chance.
On the color of blue: adidas refers to our blue as “Airforce Blue” for some reason (PMS close to 285c). I wonder why they had to call it this, but they did. Pisses me off bit that a color that was developed for our school is called something total different. I could have been fine with something like Pacific Blue or whatever. Adidas still can’t get us practice jerseys in our actual colors. Again, do you think Texas would be ok with Syracuse orange practice jerseys???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You think SUC is using MAROON practice jerseys this fall season?
And yes “Airforce Blue” looks fine indeed as the helmet script logo. When the Bruin Lacrosse team used Riddell helmets with the same paint job a few years ago, we had the decals made to match the blue. It is not all that much lighter than the current Royal blue used and looks really sharp and matches the rest of the uni. Oh well…so much for branding…
Great Look
Glad to see these uniforms back. The powder blue looks great on the home jerseys, but the navy looks much better on the numbers for the road whites. The UCLA stripes on the shoulders are also a classic look for the Bruins.
Glad to have these great uniforms back!
Who cares that the numbers aren't Bruin-blue?
They’re numbers. You need contrast. I’m more upset they didn’t add bear paws on the shoulder pads.
UCLA Football, please make the switch to black cleats
True blue looks horrible...
on the away jersey. Im glad that we came back to the the darker blue. Of course thats just my taste. Does anyone know if there is any plan on using the throwback again this year? If they are bringing it back, I hope they are easy to find in retail stores.
Just want to remind some people
that the first game we wore True Blue away uni’s was against Wash in ’06. The same game where we were up 16-0 and ended up losing.
RESCUING DANCE MUSIC FROM THE BLAHS
Not nearly as bad as the last time we worse our navy blue roadies
‘05 at SC when Dorrell went up against actual talent and couldn’t be bailed out by Olsen, MJD and Marcedes so we got embarrassed times 10.

2005 was humiliating but
When I think of those navy blue road unis I think of Goodwin’s Pac-10 clinching pick in the endzone, Cade’s bootlegs in the Mosoleum, beating number 1 Washington in Seattle w Maddox, beating Arkansas and Texas A&M in Cotton Bowls and on and on.
This past decade has been tough but those navy blue road unis bring back lot of great memories previous decades. Glad we are going to back to it.

Maybe we could have a throwback away uni day...
no outline, just the navy numbers & UCLA stripes, like this…

"The true athlete should have character, not be a character."- John Wooden
Lots of good memories with the navys
I would have liked us to stick with our roadies from last year because I think it’s weird having different shades of blue home and away, but it doesn’t really matter that much to me. I can deal with either and the navys definitely have their share of good memories.

I didn't realize LSD can pass through electronic communications...
…since it seems some of the posters are conjecturing that uniform colors have a connection to the W&Ls.
I haven’t tripped in years (decades??) but you guys take me back to the days of rather bizarre statements made when under the influence of trendy chemical amusements.
The teams lost in ’05 because there was a dearth of talent…..not the color of uniforms.
In ’90 when Maddox beat #2 Washington (not #1 according to UCLA Media Guide), there were 2 Pac-10 All-stars and 2 1st team All-Americans (2 more on 2nd&3rd teams), and 15 from that team that were eventually drafted by the pros.
When Aikman’s ’88 team beat Arkansas in the Cotton Bowl, there were 5 Pac-10 All-stars and 4 1st team All-Americans (2 more on 2nd/3rd teams), and 17 from that team that were eventually drafted by the pros.
And when the McNown ’97 season team beat Tejas A&M in the Cotton Bowl, there were 4 Pac-10 All-stars and 5 1st team All-Americans (2 more on 2nd/3rd teams), and 8 from that team that were eventually drafted by the pros.
BTW – Interesting to note that the much maligned Terry Donahue (by some BN contributors), was the coach for those Aikman and Maddox teams that had 6 All-Americans, about two dozen All-Pac-10s and sent 32 players to the pros…regardless of uniform colors.
TD

TD wasn’t horrid, but never really inspired his teams to greatness.
Not a fan
I personally like the lighter UCLA “True Blue” for the numbers and accents on the away jerseys. I was very pleased with the away uniforms last season. As other folks above have mentioned, UCLA needs to find one shade of blue and stick with it.
I know we should be moving away from the Dorrell era, but I’m not ready to write off a really good uniform simply because it came in while our “head coach” happened to be a nice, but incompetent and unqualified former player.
I liked the consistency with our home uniform and I like that it was not Michigan or Cal’s shade of blue. That’s something that sets us apart from the other UC campuses: we have a unique shade of blue and we really should use it as often as possible.
FWIW, Paul Lukas, over at the very good UniWatch Blog is not wild about our new away uniforms either (from his periodic column on WWL):
Disappointing development on UCLA’s road jersey, where the powder blue uni numbers and shoulder stripes are changing to navy (yes, that’s a retail replica on the right, but those same colors will be used on the gamers). And all jerseys — home and road — will have a little UCLA script on the rear collar area (yes, that’s also a retail replica, but the same script will be used on the gamers).
While we’re on the subject, I do like the little UCLA on the rear collar. It’s a nice detail that I think makes the uniform a bit cooler. I’m not wild about the Pac-10 logo being on our uniforms, but since every other conference does it, I can’t really blame Scott for wanting the same to (hopefully) boost the conference’s national visibility.
If were adding the UCLA script
I’d have liked it small right at the bottom of the front collar like we had in the late 90’s (or maybe it was early 2000’s). Agree with you on the blue thought. Different shades home and away is strange to me and true blue is our color, not navy.

Who's the schizophrenic tailor who keeps confusing us with Cal?!
The athletic department has no excuse for complaining about a lack of uniformity among fans if it can’t even figure out what UCLA blue is. The previous road blue was more aligned with “true blue.” When our team is the road, wouldn’t it make sense to show other parts of the country what our university’s true colors are?
On another note, it’s great that the uniform finally has “UCLA” written on it. But on the other hand, most camera shots will be of the front of our jersey, so why did we blow the opportunity to put “UCLA” right on the chest under the collar?
It’s probably too late to send the uniforms back to the shop before Saturday. Maybe all the players can bring along white-out and true blue pens to fix the jersey colors before touching down in Kansas!
I don't really care either way
as long as the players like it and feel good wearing it.
But I will say that this looks better to me. The true blue doesn’t really go well with white, IMO.
But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.
