2010 Bruin Football Kickoff Podcast Open Thread (6 pm PDT)
The BruinsNation football podcast is back and after an eventful offseason, we've got plenty to talk about. Tonight at 6 pm PDT, we'll discuss the entire offseason. That includes the NCAA's penalties on USC, the revolver being introduced to the UCLA program, injuries, suspensions and what the Bruins have to look forward to in 2010. In CRN's third season, the Bruin faithful are looking for continued improvement so what needs to happen for the Bruins to make that improvement and what could stop them from it.
All of that offseason talk gives way to talk about the opening of the 2010 season when the Bruins square off against Kansas St. on Saturday. To help us preview this weekend's game we'll be joined by TB from BringOnTheCats, SBN's K-State home base where they've been churning out great stuff all week. He'll give us the lowdown on the Wildcats and help of make sense of what the Bruins will line up against in Manhattan.
This is your podcast open thread so ad your comments and questions that we'll answer or work into the show. It should be a fun night so take part. As is always the case, you can listen live by clicking play above or you can listen afterward by clicking play or by checking out iTunes.

Re. Kansas State
Would love to get TB’s extended thought on KSU’s LB corps. My impression of this unit from reading off season previews and notes on BOTC is that they are not very experienced. Wanted to get his thoughts on how worried at all Wildcats are about the state of their LB corps?
Definitely

I'm worried, but the bigger issue on D for me is the D-line
Injuries and people coming back from injuries and new JUCOs do not make for a good feeling. The hope for the Cats is that the back-5 (KSU runs a 4-2-5) can cover up mistakes made up front. The 3 safties are all pretty good.

Another thing to talk about with TB … get his impression first hand on all the conference expansion craziness and what he thinks is the long term future of KSU program?
Another topic if you guys have time to address (more UCLA specific)
Your thoughts on zone blocking … what should we be looking out for among current starters on Sat.
Thanks so much for coming on the show T B
Not surprisingly … well thought out, detailed, incisive answers … that we will never get via tradmed outlets.
Thoroughly enjoyed it
Thanks for having me, and for the compliments.

Weird
I guess an “ad” for “Dish Network” came on. Hey .. this feels like the game threads from 2005. lol
Did it really?
I didn’t hear it. That’s so weird.

Well done gents
And an awesome “guest” for next week! I am not going to spoil it by giving away the name because folks should listen to the entire show and then hear it.
Thanks for listening in everyone
Again, big thanks to TB for joining us.
Please share any criticisms and give us any feedback here. First podcast of the season so definitely some stuff to work on. Let us know how to make it all better.

Great stuff
Thanks for putting in the time guys, much appreciated. Cant wait for this weekend!
So I just re-listened to it...
…to see how it sounded, and I really apologize for how my phone was breaking up. Should have used the computer instead of the cell phone, I guess. Lesson learned.

Don’t worry man

Darn
I was going to ask if Talkshoe is good for podcasting, especially coordinating people who aren’t in the same location. Another website I’m on wants to podcast, so I was wondering if Talkshoe would be good (because we can get callers!) or if we should just skype and hit record.
If you want more details on Talkshoe
and all the pros and cons, shoot me an email. I’ll be happy to discuss them with you.
