Roenicke, Utley, Francisco Represent UCLA Baseball In MLB Post Season
The Dodgers and Angels failed the make the playoffs. Again. So, if you're a Socal local (or just a Bruin who likes baseball and your team didn't make the playoffs either) you might consider pulling for the Milwaukee Brewers or the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Brewers are managed by Ron Roenicke, who played one season for UCLA in 1977. The Phillies feature two Bruins, second baseman Chase Utley and outfielder Ben Francisco. Utley played for UCLA from 1998-2000; Francisco followed him from 2001-2002.
And if you need a team to root against, it might as well be the Arizona Diamondbacks, whose top pitcher, Ian Kennedy is a Trojan.
The official UCLA site has the details.
I'm pulling for the Brewers.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

Ron Roenicke
IIRC his nephew Josh Roenicke walked on to the UCLA football program as a QB (during Toledo years) and then ended up pitching for the baseball team.
Pulling for the Brewers
Mr. BB was born in Milwaukee, so when you marry into the family, you do as the rest of the family. The fact that there is a Bruin connection just solidifies my decision.
If they don’t make it, then I will turn my attention to the Phillies. As much as it hurts me to root for any Philadelphia team, I just want Chase Utley to do good.
It’s just nice to know that it won’t be the Giants. Even though I’m not a big baseball fan, last year was just too much for me. I had to bite my tongue all the time when I saw posts from my NorCal sorority sisters, because blue and gold blood is always thicker. But my old man raised me to be a Dodgers fan, and a Dodgers fan I will be, no matter who their owner is.
