#NoworNever - Stars Align for Neuheisel’s UCLA to Make A Run

Mike Stoops firing - which we saw coming - was not the only major news story coming out from the Pac-12 South yesterday. ICYMI last night:

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 Sports) - Utah quarterback Jordan Wynn will have surgery on his left shoulder in the next 10 days to two weeks and will miss the remainder of the season. The decision was reached today after the third-year starter underwent a series of tests to re-evaluate the injury he suffered in the first half of Utah's loss to Washington on Oct. 1.

In other words stars have now aligned for Coach Rick Neuheisel to make a run for the divisional championship this year. Forget next season. Neuheisel will not get this kind of opportunity to win the division very often.

I don't care much for the "emotional lift" Arizona may get from firing of a coach in mid-season. Bruins have better talent in the program and given how vulnerable the Wildcats have looked, I expect them to win on Thursday. Utah should now be a very winnable game on the road.

So the table is set. The baseline expectations set here looks more reasonable than ever. We believe given the circumstances, Neuheisel should be able to do even better and win the division. Forget coaching to save his job. If Neuheisel cannot take advantage of the current circumstances and win the division this year, it will be tough for him to make the argument for long term success under his reign in Westwod.

Let's get this done coach. Now or never.

GO BRUINS.
