Inspirational Profile of Derrick Coleman
Because they didn't use their normal stable of beat writers (and I use that term loosely), the LA Times (in the October 2 LA Times Magazine) actually published a nuanced look at Derrick Coleman and how he deals with his inability to hear.
An inspiration.
Sad that through inept coaching, great young men like this are not achieving the success the team deserves.

Great Stuff
It is amazing how it is a non-issue and a real testament to Coleman. Great kid.
I knew there was a reason why I loved this kid so much (Thanks for posting!)
Derrick Coleman is our best running back – period. During games, i’m always begging, hoping for Coleman to get in. For every hole Franklin gets, Coleman would squeeze extra yardage out of it. Now I I know why. 5 yards minimum per carry is emblazzed on this kids brain. 5 yards per carry is on his locker. He runs like a bulldozer. Why? 5 yards minimum. He’s north & south. He busts through the line. Somebody block down field, and DC goes the distance. Franklin might get there .5 seconds before DC, but in the actual game of football, running through tacklers is priceless. Coleman has just about the same speed as Franklin – without needing a huge hole, and without needing to go wide to the sideline. Just look at Coleman’s pic. Look at this body of work. Derrick Coleman is our everydown back. Malcolm Jones is #2. Coleman is playing on Sunday’s just on ethic. Franklin will be in Canada. Franklin is good. Coleman is bruisingly better. Derrick Coleman.
