Probably the only thing worse than a poor loser is a poor winner. Granted $C was the better team on Saturday night, and the Irish seemed to give up after Starling's fumble return TD, but there is no excuse for $C linebacker, Chris Galippo's post game comments.
Following the Trogans 31-17 victory at South Bend, Galippo, stated, "They just quit. That's what Notre Dame football is all about. They're not anything like SC." Classy right?
Galippo does have a point, $C is nothing like ND....
- Even though ND probably won't get there, the Irish could go to a bowl in their record warrants it. $C on the other hand is 6-1, but will be watching bowl games from their dorm room couches.
- ND's last major NCAA violation was twelve years ago, when a South Bend bookkeeper embezzled an estimated $1.4 million dollars to support a McCourt-like lifestyle and became romantically involved with several ND players.
- Following the NCAA decision, ND Athletics did not appeal the sanctions. In fact, the ND President at the time, Fr. Edward Malloy, told the press, "A jury of our peers said that it was major and they gave us a penalty. We will accept this and move on.”
- Following the NCAA's decision on $C, former AD, Mike Garrett was quoted as saying, "As I read the decision by the NCAA … I read between the lines and there was nothing but a lot of envy,'' Garrett said. "They wish they all were Trojans."
I guess Galippo is right, $C is nothing like Notre Dame.
