BN Gameday: California Second Half Game Thread

Please dust off my shoulders. I need to win this game before Rick tries to lose it for us.

The Bruins have managed to come out and play some decent football, winning the battle in the trenches, getting pressure on Cal's QB, actually tackling, and minimizing stupid mistakes (except for Kevin coughing it up in UCLA territory to give Cal prime position to score their only TD).

Now, let's not get too far ahead of ourselves: Cal is doing everything they can to give this one away, so it's not as if Rick has finally turned the corner.  After all, he managed to completely bungle clock management to end the first half, that would have given UCLA a chance at some more points.  In other words, just more evidence of why Rick needs to go.  Or to be totally blunt: it was a weak-ass, soft, chump conservative loser way to manage the clock.

And, like we said before, every game from here on out is meaningless until Neuheisel and, more importantly, Dan Guerrero are terminated.  While we need wholesale regime change in Westwood, it's still nice to taste a lead over our Northern California brothers and sisters.

This is your second half game thread.

GO BRUINS

Hurry-up-and-score offense requires throws down the field

Rick has zero confidence in Kevin I-throw-picks-when-given-a-chance Prince.

It's kind of fun watching this game without being emotionally invested in

No pressure whatsover.

And what happened at the second quarter … just reaffirms why we need a wholesale culture/regime change in Westwood.

Where was what?

Our offense looks vanilla. Our defense average against a pretty bad QB. And our head coach looks disorganized and cluelessly conservative.

Rick/Prince: Here, you take the win!
Tedford: No, you take the win!
Rick: No, you can have it.
Tedford: No, I insist. You should have the win. I’ll make it really easy for you.
Rick: Well, I’m not sure I want the win… I’ll try to give it back (kinda, sorta)

Too bad the defense hasn't played like this every week

Especially, say, last week. Still far too inconsistent but it’s always nice to get a win. Also, Cal would have a hard time beating anyone this year. Still, in sports terms this has been one of the best days I’ve had in years.

Arsenal smokes Chelsea, UGA beats Florida and this. I don’t really have anything to complain about.
