I'm not sure if I like this idea but Neuheisel is really feeling the heat on his backside right about now.

Question:

Is Crissman really that bad? Behind? hurt?

He was pretty highly recruited IIRC…

by impaulv on Oct 9, 2011 10:44 PM PDT reply actions

He never lacked talent

He just doesn’t have a dependable shoulder to throw the ball with. He’s honestly had so many surgeries on his shoulder that it would be dumb for him to try and play live action football. He’s good as a scout team QB because he can play without worry of being hit and not being able to lift his arm up ever again.

He’s a true Bruin though, anybody else would have taken a medical retirement.

Maybe CRN is finally willing to take a risk

albeit, halfway through the season.
IIRC Crismann really got screwed over with shoulder surgeries. Hasn’t been the same since…

Not surprising. Rick’s got nothing to lose but his job which may not continue into next season.

This sucks

Didn’t Hundley flat out say he wasn’t interested in playing basically scrub minutes and thereby lose his redshirt?

All he will get is scrub minutes cause Prince will get to play as much as he can. But since he probably will have some injury (cause of his history..not that I wish it upon him), Hundley will play and then after a few quarters be back on the bench….

This doesn't mean Hundley is going to play scrub minutes

If Prince gets hurt, it shouldn’t take long to get a general idea of when he might be back. If Prince is going to miss on the order of several weeks, Hundley is easily our best chance of winning those games and should get the nod. If we’re talking about just playing out the game, there should be other options.

if Richard is done for the year

then I hope we really accelerate the Hundley package and get it into the game in certain situations even if Prince is healthy. That way Hundley gets meaningful (non-scrub) minutes, Prince gets a breather every now and then with a chance to watch the opposition defense from the sideline, opponents have to gameplan for both and Hundley will have had live snaps if he ever needs to step in due to injury.

Finally - The Cam Newton, ummm Brett Hundley Era is upon us

I fired up my computer the instant I awoke looking for this great news.
Thanks for posting. Yesterday, I shot-off 7 reasons why, the very top comments on a front page post here, that was blantanly ignored the live long day (until MexiBruin). History says (not me, history) KP will not finish this season physically healthy, or game worthy. There must be a capable back-up available. Clearly Hundley was brought here specifically to run this offense now. Dude came in early for that purpose. He had a medical set-back which gave KP and RB (get well soon) the opportunity to battle it out. Absent injury to Hundley, he would be our quarterback today. Reisitance is futile. And why would you resist anyway? Huh? Why? Kid comes with all the tools for the pistol. Rick will live or die with the pistol. Kid come to do a Tommy Maddox (the whole world knows this). Brett Hundley was brought here to be used now. And now it is. Embrace. Enjoy. How exciting. I’ll bet just moving to #2 on the Depth Chart has energized that locker-room. It’s about time. (Go ahead ladies and gentlemen, let the negativity rip). Go Bruins. I’m stoked.

Why resist?

I’d point to the fact that Hundley himself has said he’s not ready as a prime factor.

Roses are red, violets are blue...f*** $C.

I don't think Brett can read the defenses yet.

Which is crucial for any college QB and even more crucial for the Pistol.

But I think the problem may be who is doing the teaching, not the student.

Yeah, you may be on to something... I did find these remarks from Rick a little troubling:

“We can really accelerate his learning and get him caught up when you don’t have that luxury when you are game planning for a particular opponent.”

Personally, I’d been assuming that Hundley, by this time, would have mastered the playbook, and film. However, the words accelerate, and caught up are interesting. Evidently, Rick feels he’s lagging far behind in something, and is not up to par with everyone else. I dunno. Hopefully, the book and film parts are mastered, and all that’s needed is Real Time, Game Speed actual experience. Where there’s intellectual knowledge, there’s fast adjustment & adaptation. I will admit though, I’ve seen first hand failure at relying solely upon athletic ability at this level. We’ll soon see!

Something about that playbook

Hundley has not managed it. Brehaut only recently did.

Maybe that’s why Mike Leach doesn’t have one.

I really don’t want to waste an unprepared Hundley’s red shirt year; I don’t want him demoralized by being thrown into the cluster f situation that has been created by this staff.
