You may remember that many faculty were upset that the new Luskin Conference and Guest Center was going to be built where the Faculty Club is now. The administration has announced that the Luskin Center's new location is going to be where Parking Lot 6 is--a new seven-story building at the center of the campus, steps from Pauley Pavillion.

Kind of makes you think that an on-campus football stadium certainly would be possible, doesn't it?

Effective campaign.

Looks nice along with the new engineering building across the street.

Except

if you want an on-campus stadium, you can’t take away parking lots!

But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.

Much of the push to move this facility came from the local neighborhoods

and U.C.L.A. predictably caved. Makes me think the current leadership would never get a stadium built.

I’m also sentimental about this. I got my first parking ticket at U.C.L.A. in the meters at Lot 6. Maybe I can get a piece of concrete from the demo as a souvenir.

The Faculty Club

The current condition of the Faculty Club is pretty janky in my opinion. I don’t understand why anyone would have a problem tearing it down.

Seems like to got a push-back from faculty members

The way I understand it now, the faculty center operates autonomously. They better have a plan for that place in the future – if anything, it’s one of the places that definitely needs an upgrade.

I have no problem with tearing down Lot 6; it’s a parking lot for crying out loud. Don’t we have the world’s premiere opponent for parking structure construction? Seems like a posh place for visiting faculty. I like the way UCLA is building itself. The dorm project on Gayley, from the numerous building projects around, it’s quite exciting how UCLA will look in the future.
