Center Joshua Smith was not all that impressed with the Sports Arena, where the Bruins will play 14 home games this season. After visiting the downtown arena for the first time last week, Smith complained that it was too old and too close to UCLA's crosstown rival USC.

Doesn't bother me one iota
I am a covert Bruin enrolled as a student at ’SC. Speaking for myself, having the Bruins across the street is AWESOME! Just like my old days as an undergrad.
Somos los Bruins poderosos...
I remember the first time I walked into the sports arena you could feel the age of the place
but not in a cool way like when you visit london or the pyramids.
Winning is not a sometime thing; it's an all the time thing. You don't win once in a while; you don't do things right once in a while; you do them right all the time. Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing. ~ Vince Lombardi
In my old job...
we did a project at the Sports Arena and got access to the locker rooms and other back areas only employees can go to…It was such a dump! I couldn’t believe that the Sports Arena was still allowed to remain open.
With the NBA lockout looming
they couldn’t even get a deal from the Staples Center? How pathetic.
But hey, what do I know. Iām just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.
I don't blame him one bit.
The Sports Arena sucks! Painting a dumpster a different color only makes it a freshly-coated dumpster.
Hopefully they can pull together as a team even more, knowing that they have to depend on each other for success since they won’t have a true home court.
And, at least from the limited angle of the video, Joshua Smith does look to be somewhat lighter and in better shape.
OK,
I am extremely glad I watched the entire video, because Josh isn’t being a “spoiled brat” at all here—he’s actually mature and pretty philosophical. I’m not even sure I would characterize his comments about the proximity of the arena to USC as “complaints.”
Also, he certainly does look leaner than he has in the past, and he is very serious.
I wondered about this when my (Jayhawk-loving) husband kidded me about Josh Smith being “so unhappy” about where he had to play this year…God only knows where he’s getting that slant, but it is obviously a complete exaggeration, if not a total mischaracterization.
Love My Bruins
