Joshua Smith posted a series of tweets about an hour ago. First he issued this apology:
what i said wasnt smart and was bad sportsmanship. i apologize for the comment i made yesterday. we lost to a team that just outplayed us
Then he added some qualifiers:
Lol and people who follow me please if u read my tweets dont make your own assumptions.. that tweet (cont)
But you live and learn everyday and i have learned from this small incident now the only thing to (cont)
An unconditional apology was the way to go Joshua. There were not need to make further excuses.
Anyway, we will let this incident go for now, but we still need to see a total commitment to "Ben Ball" (they should know what it is) from Smith and his team-mates started today. This means playing basketball with commitment to defense, fundamentals and playing with all out effort for every min. We have not seen that consistently in this program since the mid point of 2009-10 season.
It's time for Howland not just demand that commitment but also use his bench to hold people accountable who are not living up to that commitment. We are tired of the brave talk off the court, only to have the players disgrace the four letters on it.
GO BRUINS.
