Should the Football coach be fired?

Let's examine the facts.

He has won in the Rose Bowl game.

He has been the subject of NCAA investigation.

His team was in a group of poor squads last year and still had a losing record.

His team is in a very poor division this year and has only a slim chance of making the playoffs, which would be a joke if it happened.

Should he be retained or fired?

His name is Pete Carroll.

I'd like Carroll to get fired

Living in Oregon, my only real chance to see an NFL game is at Qwest Field in Seattle, and I really want to see one someday. Of course, I’m boycotting the team as long as Cheatey’s in charge, so yeah. Just another reason to root for the Niners, I guess.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought this was a reference to CRN

CRN won a Rose Bowl as a player.
He has been the subject of an NCAA investigation.
He had a losing record last year among a bunch of poor teams.
His team is in a bad Pac-12 South and has only a slim chance of making the CCG, which would be a joke if it happened.

Am I just reading too much into this?

He has an excuse.

His team salary is much lower than it was when he was coaching for a Rose Bowl berth. He can’t win with the paltry salary cap allowed by the NFL.

Carroll has never been a do more with less type of coach

What he has been good at is stockpiling a college roster with a lot of talent, which will win you a lot of games.

Not sure I agree with this...

Tough spot of being a Seahawks and UCLA fan…

I hated the hire of Carroll for obvious reasons, but he has done more then he should have with the talent he was given.

He has flipped the roster over in two seasons, the previous GM was clueless (look at Seattle drafting before Carroll arrived) and the team got old and void of talent on both sides.

Hawks are one of the youngest teams and while only 3-6 they have been competitive this year. And doing so with a horrible QB, below average stable of RBs, and a really young OL. The defense is above average with other people’s trash (Clemons/Branch/Browner/Brock) and newly drafted talent (Thomas/Chancellor/Sherman/Wright).

Hawks getting a QB that is a Pro Bowl level is really what is needed for Carroll to get things rolling. I don’t see how he is going to make it happen too many wins to get a top QB in the draft.

He can always grab

his boy Matt Barkley. Should be available to him. He can move in with Cheatey.

But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.

Yeah...

Barkley will be gone in the top five, unless the Hawks defense falls on its face they wont be picking that high.

I am all for doing what it takes to move up in the draft if it means finally getting a decent QB in Seattle.

He may be in the top 5

but I’m not sure he’ll be very good in the NFL…

Why I posted this...

Judging by the comments, my satire must have been even more opaque than I desired!
There is a great deal of criticism of CRN, some of which I share (especially: why did he start Prince against Texas). But I don’t hear any criticism about Cheat Pete in Seattle, who indeed “competes” against such tough squads as the Cardinals and the Rams. If he keeps this up, his pro coaching reputation will join fellow Trogan cheats McKay and Kiffin as losers when the playing field is fair.

This just in!

Tim Tebow beats Trogans Sanchez (pick-six) and McKnight (fumble). Maybe we can have an NFL franchise relocate to LA and be the new “Los Angeles SCandals” with Cheat Pete, Sanchez, McKnight, Bush, Leinart, Rey Rey, and others — only soiled champions allowed on the squad. Their motto: “We make the Raiders look like choir boys.”

Good grief

Every time I’ve heard about McKnight in college AND in the NFL, it’s been because he fumbled the ball away! I even made my own nickname for him a few years ago: “Fumble-Fingers McKnight”
