Simply put, Jones is hurting the team more than he is helping it at this point. He had another woeful shooting night, going 0-5 from the field, and had only three assists in 32 minutes.
Jones this season is now shooting 24.4 percent from the field (12 of 49) and he is four of 31 (12.9 percent) against Division I opponents. Anderson is fully capable of manning the point guard spot and freshman Norman Powell has shown enough in limited time to warrant some more minutes at the third guard spot.
Powell was in the game for 20 minutes Wednesday, but his teammates seemed to make an effort to not give him the ball. He's shown some good athletic moves and while he's also making freshman mistakes, he's not hurting the team the way Jones is during this early-season shooting slump.

Powell's handcuff's reminded me of Lamb's last year
It seems like his first, second, and third given option is to quickly circulate the ball. I’d love to see him get an opportunity to create and shed some of the nervousness.
With Honeycutt, Lee, Nelson, and Smith, Lamb really should've been at the bottom of the totem pole
But for he team to actively deny him the ball? I think that’s a symptom of Zeek and the Wears shooting at every possible opportunity.

I did not see an effort not get Powell the Ball
POwell was too passive waiting on the three point line and when he got the ball he was obviously trying not to make a mistake and not thinking much of scoring, except on the rebound and break.
There are a lot of problems right now but Powell being frozen out was not one of them.
