ASU Cans Erickson (& Potentially the AD) While Chianti Dan Prepares for a "Big Game"

Earlier Odysseus summarized the status of two PAC 12 programs that are in the process of replacing their head football coaches.

Well, ASU has decided not to wait for other programs (like UCLA) to resolve their coaching situations before making its move. USA Today is reporting that ASU has fired Dennis Erickson:

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Dennis Erickson is out as Arizona State's football coach, a university official told the Associated Press, after another season in which the results didn't meet the expectations for the Sun Devils.

And get this...ASU may be considering a shakeup of its Athletic Department due to, (get this) Athletic Director Lisa Love's "continuous support of Erickson":

It may seem rash but, considering how far ASU football was expected to go this year, it doesn't surprise. The program is now looking at going to a low-level bowl that won't bring in a lot of money or encourage fans to pack up their bags to see their team.

Love has come under harsh criticism at times this season, thanks to her continuous support of Erickson and her handling of numerous other things, including a baseball program that was forced to vacate wins and violated numerous NCAA rules.

Any of this sound familiar?

Imagine that...an Athletic Director being held accountable for her inexplicable support of a floundering coach. A novel concept.

Rick needs to be terminated now. It's time for Chianti Dan to go as well.
