Men's Soccer - Bruins Win OT Thriller to Book a Ticket to the 2011 College Cup
How about some good news for a change?
Sophomore Reed Williams picked a great time to score his first goal of the season, netting the game winning goal just a few minutes into the second OT period to beat Louisville 1 - 0 and send the Bruins to the 2011 College Cup in Birmingham Alabama where they will face the University of North Carolina!
As usual, the Bruin defense was stingy netting their 8th consecutive shutout and 12th on the year running their overall record to 18-4-1.
Guess the third time was the charm for the Bruins in Kentucky!
Here's a pretty good match recap: http://www.ncaa.com/news/soccer-men/article/2011-12-03/ucla-wins-double-overtime-thriller

Phew
Watching that first half of extra time I was convinced that we would continue to come up empty despite our domination, then give up a goal on the only chance they had and that would be in. Great finish by Williams, who was robbed a couple minutes earlier too. Fantastic for the team to get over that hump in Louisville.
Next week is going to be tough. UNC looks to be the best team in the country now, but we certainly have the talent to compete with them. I’m excited for the tactical battle.

Good job, Bruins!
After the end of last season and the start of this one, it was extra nice to knock L’ville out.

This story should be a front-page post
What a huge win for the Bruins! Louisville has an excellent team, and it speaks volumes for UCLA’s credibility in soccer circles to win games like this. The team is on a roll and deserves a lot of applause here.
I'm sorry I could not give live updates
I so wanted to be there and give live updates, but I had to coach my son’s indoor soccer game and then head straight to the biggest Toys for Tots party in Louisville. Yesterday the weather cooperated for us by being unseasonably warm, (59 degrees). I spoke with my soccer buddies early Saturday about how I thought this would give the SoCal guys an advantage.
This team has grown a lot since the opening game loss to Louisville at the beginning of the season, and now is poised to handle the incredible challenge ahead in UNC and potentially UConn. Go Bruins!!!!

I was really happy that we beat Lousville
They had knocked us out of the tournament the past 2 years. They were like…..the Florida Gators of soccer.
