My passion bucket is full
Of hating the way Ben Howland has taken this group of players (I won’t call it a team) down the drain. I’m wondering if he can indefinitely suspend himself from the team as well.
Up to 10:40 was all I could stand, I can't stand no more.
Strength. Decisivness. Vision. Leadership. Wide-eyed. Enthusiastic. Definitive. Ben Howland needs to brush up on all these things. I think Ben needs a one on one with my buddy Nestor. A darn UCLA Blog runs more tight, more professional, with more definate purpose and vision (and discipline, ouch) than my own UCLA Bruins Mens Basketball Team. Let’s learn from Rick’s debacle, and if Ben get’s to the place where we’re mathmatically eliminated from our objectives… he’s out and interim takes over, even if it’s mid season. Frankly, Ben looks beat. (Thanks Ben, I forgot that two of the last 3 seasons were great, because we finished one game away from a Championship. I guess Rick says the same. Yeesh).
U-C-L-A Fight, Fight, Fight! Go Bruins!
NBA: Where Greed Happens. RIP 10/10/11.
Consistency
Coach Howland seems to demand that from Reeves but over the last 3 years consistency has been completely missing from the program. I can barely remember when they put together a complete game.
Does anyone mind summarizing some key points?
The video won’t load on my computer here at work and I’m dying to see what he’s saying.
Quotes:
“There were a couple of other things that occurred during that game that were very much inappropriate,” Howland said. "I’m not the only one who feels this way. My staff, we’ve talked a lot about this. These distractions take you away from coaching and doing what’s best for our team. As talented as he is, no one is bigger than the team. The team comes first.
“That said, this is not a professional deal. This kid’s a kid, turned 20 this summer. It is something we’ve been working on and talking about for quite awhile. When I suspended him the first time and met with him, he was very contrite. Today, when I met with him, he was very reserved.”
Painfully inarticulate
You have to wonder what kind of verbal messages the players are getting from Howland. I hope he communicates more clearly than what is evidenced in the clip. I also suspect he’s not much of a listener and wonder what his response to someone like Moser or Stanback was when questioned on why they were awarded so little playing time when Dragoshit threw up brick after brick and defended poorly. Howland’s empty words must have been perceived as utter BS.
And, Ben, if you’re reading this, it’s not mute point; it’s moot point. Rhymes with boot, coot, hoot and toot.
