Okay..

wasn’t expecting that one this morning.

Finally!

I will look forward to hearing other’s comments and analysis of this hire. He seems to have done a good job at UCF and Cincinnatti. Another site mentioned he was not retained when Skip Holtz took over at UCF.

At this point, welcome aboard Joe! Help us put this search mess in the rearview mirror and let’s turn our attention to aggressive, winning football.

Wasn't retained by Holtz

Okay, that explains why he was coaching in the United Football League in 2010.

He seems to bring a lot of experience, and is “aggressive minded”, FWIW. Finally ends this very, very long chapter.

South Florida connections

will be HUGE, assuming he has any. Those south florida kids can flat out play.

He's more of a midwest guy

didn’t spend any real time in Florida. However, if we win, Rick can recruit. Its much more important to have a coordinator who can win games.

Agree 100%

I’d rather have a good coordinator who doesn’t recruit and let Rick be the face for our program. After all, our defensive performances will recruit for themselves.

I'm excited

but maybe it’s because I haven’t had the chance to see his named dragged through the cyber-mud yet. Hopefully this staff can get it done on the field.

Agreed....

This seems like a solid but maybe not spectacular hire. I will be interested in any details CRN shares about the search and how he came in contact with Tresey. Like Steve Brown, I expect to read comments on both sides of the fence.

We will not get many

details. The failures of the search will get swept under the rug. Rick will talk about "moving forward’ and not worrying about the past, and that he’s made the right choice with Tresey.

Interesting comment on Yahoo! Sports announcement of the hiring.
Great Coach! Great Hire! Great Person! I have followed Joe’s career since he was at my alma mater, Georgia Southern. Fast defenses that stunt like a mo fo. AGRESSIVE…. Watch out from the corners Pac-10 QBs. They are coming after you!!!! A strong leader that gets outstanding respect from his players. Great Hire. UCLA, your defense is in good hands! Go Bruins and Go Coach Tresey! ~Smith
