Bruins Look To Make It 4-0 Against Pepperdine Open Thread

Fresh off of a three-game sweep of San Francisco to open the season, UCLA will look to make it a 4-0 start when they host Pepperdine at Jackie Robinson Stadium tonight. The weekend's results moved UCLA up to number one in the NCBWA poll and kept them at number two behind Florida in the Baseball America and Perfect Game polls. The Waves are coming off of a sweep of Eastern Kentucky and will look to prove to all those who claim they're in for a down season that that's not the case by beating the Bruins.

UCLA will send Scott Griggs to the hill, a talented sophomore with great tools, but who was very erratic last season when he gave up six runs, walked eight and struck out 10 in eight innings. Griggs was said to have had a very good January and February and he won the Tuesday job on the back of his work in the last two months so we'll get a look at thwat improvements he's made tonight. Freshman Matt Mauer will get the start for Pepperdine after surrendering three runs, two earned, in only 0.2 innings of relief work on Saturday.

For those of you looking to follow along today, GameTracker will have it and you can get all the in-game updates, along with links and other information on my UCLA baseball twitter. John Ramey and Co. will be back in the booth this season and giving you the play play online. The Bruins are eying 4-0 so follow along and use this as your open thread to share any thoughts, updates or questions.
