So the Bruins have their first series loss of the season and it came much earlier than anyone expected. Dropping two of three to San Jose St. shocked a lot of people, but the Bruins don't have any time to feel sorry for themselves because they have a game down south to play at San Diego St. First pitch is at 6 pm PST at Tony Gwynn Stadium, a stadium named for the Padre great and Aztecs' head coach who is thankfully recovering well from a battle with cancer.
Scott Griggs will get the nod for the Bruins, just as he did last Tuesday when he made his first start and tossed four shutout innings against Pepperdine. The sophomore walked a pair, but showed improved command from a year ago, which is all that stands between him and success considering his electric stuff. The Aztecs are off to a rough start to the season, having dropped five of their first six games. Their starter tonight, Bryan Crabb, has gotten off to an equally rough start, surrendering eight runs in his four innings of work this season.
For those of you looking to follow along today, GameTracker will have it and you can get all the in-game updates, along with links and other information on my UCLA baseball twitter. John Ramey and Co. are making the trek down south as well to give you the play by play online. With a trip to Nebraska this weekend, getting a win tonight to have some sort of momentum is important. This is your open thread so have at it.
