No, there's nothing wrong with wanting to play for your dad, but ...
it’s up to the dad to make sure that the child makes the decision best for the child, not for the parent.
What I find disturbing about this situation is that the kid’s signing a letter of intent seemed a prerequisite to the extension of the father’s contract. “Sign me and I’ll deliver my kid” does not seem to me to be the right thing to do.
