Elite Eight Without UCLA Tournament Thread

Bumped. -BN

I figure most of us have lost our stomach for the tournament. For me, it's because we are not playing anymore.

For others, it seems that many of your "brackets" have blown up.

Yet, I'll watch some of the games. And, "threads" are like watching games with seat mates and friends. So, I'll throw this up. Mod's feel free to pull it if you think it inappropriate.

One starting thought. Florida v. Butler: Florida starts 3 seniors, a junior and sophmore -- no freshmen. Butler starts two seniors, a junior, and two sophmores -- no freshmen. Somehow Donovan keeps his kids long enough to field a "mature" team.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

All I care about is

getting Kentucky out of the final four. I’m ambivalent about AZ.

Probably favor Butler over Fla, and would like to see VCU in final 4.

It is interesting that 3 of the last 8 are teams we played.

VCU, Kansas, and Zona. Makes our schedule look a bit killer. Team that gave us the most trouble, VCU. Makes me feel prouder of our guys for their improvement this year.

Don't forget Florida

That’s makes half the Elite 8.

The Road to Indy goes through Westwood. ugh.

I want some shooters like Butler has.

On the other hand, I’m glad we have bigs that can handle bigs like Macklin (sp?).

I enjoy watching teams playing all out all of the time

I actually enjoyed our two tournament games because I think our effort and intensity were there.

Agreed.

That’s what made me feel okay about our guys again, after that bad dream I had.

Should not be rooting for Arizona.

Ambivalent

It’s an “avoidance:avoidance” conflict.

I wish neither program were there. Or, playing other teams so that I could root against each.

I liked what he said. He almost made me change my mind.

But I don’t consider UConn part of that nightmare. I like UCONN. While I pulled for Zona in the sweet-16 to get the pac some respect. At this point I don’t think I want any more positive energy going towards arizona. We compete for too many of the same recruits. I must say though, when he’s not acting, I do really enjoy watching “The whole enchilada from La Mirada”. But I want them to look bad tonight. Hoping UCONN plays like we did at Pauley.

NCAA violation by Jordan and UNC?

I was reading an article about the Lakers and at the end was a bit about Michael Jordan telling the UNC players that they better not be wearing Kobe’s shoe. Then it went on and instead of laughing, well I got bothered. How much is Jordan involved with this team. Is he giving them stuff he shouldn’t? How can we get more of our alumns connected to our team, in a legal way? Anyway, I wondered what others thought about this?

Jordan appeared to be joking when he recently ran into the Tar Heels as they were entering the Bobcats’ home arena before an NCAA tournament game.
“Next time I see you in them Kobe Bryants, man, I’m cutting you right off,” Jordan said. “I don’t care if your feet kill you; you’re going to wear them Jordans.”
He was smiling when he said it, but — ouch.
Jordan then offered to give the Tar Heels players pairs of his latest shoes, the Jordan XIs.
“Get to the Final Four and you can have anything you want,” Jordan added.

UNC is a Jordan school

He can just direct the brand to get them the shoes they SHOULD be wearing during a certain game for promotion, as long as it’s Nike or Jordan branded.

This has been a crappy 24 hours for Ohio State.

First their men’s team gets upset, and now their women’s team went down to Tennessee in the Sweet 16 as well.

And the Gonzaga women are going to face off against Louisville, still in Spokane, in a few hours. Guess who’ll win that one.

Gonzaga's women team...

blew a huge lead against Louisville, but held on to advance. Even ESPN said it was due to “home cooking”. Now they’re the lowest seed in NCAA women’s HISTORY to make the Elite Eight. Well, yeah, you had them freakin’ playing at home!

Well, Stanford doesn’t care, and is going to put the hurt on them in two days.

Gonzaga is good...

…But its still ridiculous that they have basically been able to play at home for the first 4 games of the Tourney, especially as an 11 seed! I still hope Stanford wins and then gives the Zags a beat down. I want Stanford to go all the way and win a championship for Pac-10’s sake.

I'm sure Rye will post a recap soon... but WOW

What an absolute GEM by Trevor Bauer to beat the Trogans 4-0
9 complete innings
14 Ks
1 hit (a bloop single in the middle of the 8th)
2 walks
ONLY 3 trogies reached 1st base
Had a perfect game going until mid-7th BB
