Michigan & UCLA: Brothers and Sisters from Other Mothers?
I hate to use the BFOM phrase. To me it's the worst of acronyms and hip, meaningless phrasing, like "It is what it is." However, in this case I feel it applies. I've always felt a certain kinship with the University of Michigan. Not simply because a good friend of mine is an alum, but because they've always mirrored UCLA in many ways. They're a top public school, close to a major metro area, with an intelligent student body. They've had good athletic success, not to mention a constant rivalry with a national powerhouse. Now, it comes out that that rival has been cheating like it's their job, just like ours. Just another similarity that we share, not to mention the downfall of a renowned coach who always had a media-friendly vibe, but everyone who paid attention knew there had to be some (literally thousands) of skeletons in the closet. So while we may not always see eye to eye, and while they may like an ugly blue and gold, it's nice to know that there is some common ground in today's football world.
