UCLA Baseball - How Will The Bruins Finish In the Pac-10?

UCLA just came up with a huge baseball sweep in Eugene thanks to amazing efforts from Gerrit Cole, Trevor Bauer and Adam Plutko. Bauer has been a machine all season long. Plutko is showing signs of brushing off his hard luck from earlier part in the season. May be this past weekend's game will jump start Cole.

Do the Bruins have a shot at winning the conference? Here is how the conference standing looks right now:

Team Conf Wins Conf Losses Conf Pct Overall Wins Overall Losses Overall Pct
Oregon St 14 4 .778 34 11 .756
Arizona St 13 5 .722 35 11 .761
UCLA 14 7 .667 27 16 .628
California 12 9 .571 28 16 .636
Arizona 9 9 .500 30 16 .652
Stanford 9 9 .500 25 16 .610
USC 8 10 .444 18 26 .409
Oregon 5 13 .278 23 23 .500
Washington St 5 13 .278 20 22 .476
Washington 4 14 .222 13 30 .302

How do the schedules look for the top-3 teams?

Here are the key Pac-10 series left involving the top-3 teams:

May 20-22
Cal at UCLA
USC at Oregon State
Arizona State at Washington

May 27-29
Oregon State at Oregon
UCLA at Arizona State

The odds are against the Bruins. They are going to take on a very good Cal team at home and then an outstanding ASU team on the road. Oregon State looks to have a favorable schedule with USC at home and then Oregon on the road. Although Oregon-Oregon State can always be a fierce battle. ASU should have no problems dispatching Washington.

Can the Bruins ride the arm of out pitching staff and finish in the top-2 of Pac-10?
