GREAT article on Institutional control
Written by a guest writer for the Barking Carnival in reaction to Jim Tressell's ignomious departure from OSU, this piece absolutely shreds any arguments put forth by those clowns across town that 'it's impossible to keep track of 85 guys'

Anyone know anything about our compliance departement?
It would be interesting to see how we stack up against Texas.
Hrm.
Here’s the directory:

There’s … a lot. And each employee is supposed to be at least versed in some sort of compliance.
By the way, UCLA is looking for an Assoc. Athletic Director in Development:

This job seems fun, Assistant Athletic Equipment Coordinator:

UCLA has one of the best compliance department in the country
It is headed by Rich Herczog, who I believe has been in charge of the dept as as an associate athletic director since 1989. He was one of the first senior compliance official at D-1 program. Rich I think is helped by two other senior officials and a regular group of support staff.
Of course they can’t watch over everything. However, when they discover any wrongdoing they attack the problem and immediately take necessary corrective measures. UCLA is in good hands with him and his staff.
In comparison I believe before Southern Cal got exposed for their corruption they had a compliance department of ONE staff who had no real authority w/in their AD. It was a joke. An after thought. It still is considering the kind of person is leading their football program.
Do you know if we do what this guy says Texas does re cars and jobs?
That seems pretty simple to me. Tell me what you drive and where you live and where you work and prove it’s legit. You might be able to get by with a compliance department of 1 if the rule were that the player couldn’t play until he had proved his legitimacy.
That's what I thought, too.
I also liked the way he attacked their rivals with class. Can’t wait for that game in fall.
