49ers Waive Masoli BUT Hold on to the Law Firm (For Now)

Patroclus sent me an IM over this yesterday and I still had a hard time believing it. So here it is from the 49ers' transaction page:

The 49ers announced that they have signed P Sam Paulescu and activated WR Dominique Zeigler from the physically unable to perform list. The team also announced they have waived QB Jeremiah Masoli and K Fabrizio Scaccia.

Yes, that would be former all world Ducks' QB who had to transfer to Ole Miss after a major scandal. Those transactions were dated on August 22nd. Meanwhile, guess who is  still on the current roster:

1 Bethel-Thompson, McLeod QB 6-4 230 23 R Sacramento State

If the Law Firm makes the final cut to Niners' roster this season ... oh man ... I will let you guys take it from here.

GO BRUINS.

I guess

they haven’t watched footage of that Notre Dame game…

But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.

Oh, my, goodness

HOW?! I thought the Law Firm was a surefire goner when they signed McCown.

Man, Masoli must look horrible in camp.

Yeah

I wasnt surprise per se when the Law Firm got into the camp. The fact that he has lasted beyond 2 games and outlasted Masoli is pretty funny.

Talking bout not making 49ers roster...

a certain 2010 49ers second round draft pick safety from Figueroa U was traded to the Bengals for a draft pick after proving that he was extremely poor in pass coverage…

contrast that with all the great news coming out of the NFL about Moore, Ayers, and even ATV….

Just one of the many times that I’m proud to be a Bruin!

LOL

Yeah, I noticed that in the transaction page and heard about it as well. Can’t believe Niners wasted a draft pick on him.

Apparently he was a Singletary pick

Or that was the rumor I heard in passing.

Harbaugh wasn’t going to tolerate him.

This year

I am rooting for the Niners to get in position to get Andrew Luck. There I said it!

Me Too!

I’ve always been a Niners fan since my best friend at UCLA played for them.

Now that I’m moving to Northern California, I plan on going to the games. I’m willing to sacrifice one year to get Luck.

As a Niners fan, as much as I'd love to get Luck

I can’t fathom actually rooting for my own team to lose all their games in order to get any single player. I just can’t get myself to do it.

It’s pretty obvious, though, that going 0-16 in a chase for Luck is precisely Cheatey Petey’s strategy in Seattle. They have the least talented roster throughout the league, got rid of their only competent QB and have a couple 3rd stringers instead. I hope it backfires and Petey manages to win just enough games to finish 2nd place in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes.

Bill Walsh

Started 2-14 in his first two seasons at SF. Again, #justsaying.

I am not necessarily rooting for the Niners to lose but I am not going to lose sleep if Harbaugh has a tough first season. Then again, I am not as emotionally invested in my pro teams as I am in my Bruins.

What?!

He was supposed to win the Heisman! He was the Dark Hose candidate! Thankfully, Cheatie convinced him to stay an extra year, where he clearly showed to the whole country that he was in fact terrible.

But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.

Oh it's horrible

I was having nightmares that Niners for some reason would sign him. I can’t imagine being in the situation of having to root for him.

by Nestor on Aug 24, 2011 2:56 PM PDT up reply actions

Not sure that I will root for him

The team can still do well without him doing well. I’m hoping he ends up with the Raiders.

But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.

NO!!!

Please don’t wish that on us! Pryor was enough!

Don’t knock the guy—Masoli was an impact player at Ole Miss.

What kind of impact—not good at all. Look what happened after Masoli unsuccessfully attempted to matriculate to the NFL

Junior QB Randall Mackey was arrested this week. The Washington Post relates:

According to the police report, Mackey was at The Lyric Theater when police officers attempted to break up a "large fight." That’s when police say Mackey came forward and hit officer Hildon Sessums on the lip, though Mackey insists "he was pushed" into the officer.
Oxford chief of police Mike Martin told The Associated Press on Tuesday that officers did not feel Mackey purposely hit Sessums; if they had, more serious charges would have been filed.

.

How does one unintentionally punch out a cop? One wonders if Ole Miss owns the Oxford police like another similarly intellectually respected institution we are familiar with.

But that’s not all. According to the Jackson (Mississippi) Clarion Ledger, one of Mackey potential receivers, Jamal Mosley, was arrested during the early morning hours of August 22 for being drunk in public.

Masoli was a real leader on and off the field.

I never, ever.... EVER

would have predicted this. Good for him :) I like being wrong about things like this.
