Best Talent In Years? Maybe Not

One question after two games in 2011 is why the Bruins are having so much trouble meeting the Eye Test when the team's talent level has improved so much in CRN's three plus years at the helm.

But is this really the most talented Bruin team in years?

Perhaps the reason this year's team seems unlikely to top 2009's 7-6 record is because the talent level hasn't really improved.  Look at the NFL level talent that was in the program in 2009 and has since departed:

Price, Verner, Ayers, Moore, Forbath and Austin.  Have any of these players been replaced by someone with more talent? Maybe Austin, but that's it.  That said, his conservative returns look positively explosive compared to Embree. . . .

Additional productive contributors from include:  R. Carter, the Bosworths and XSF. Jerzy looks better and better in light of our DL play for two games.

Finally, a number of the talented recruits over the past two years that seemed likely to up the overall talent level are no longer in the program:  J. Shirley, S. Richardson, P. Richardson, M. Presley and S. Hasiak.

The bottom line is that the 2009 roster looks better and better two years later.
