WVU AD Oliver Luck asking fans to lose those "West F*ckin Virginia" shirts
The letter to the fans linked above. It reminded me of UCLA athletics trying to tell students to drop the F bombs against Southern Cal at hoops game. I always thought that was lame. While I don't care much about cursing these days, I don't think it's the best idea to bottle up emotion (as long as kids are not breaking any rules) at a college athletics event. It's the emotion that makes college football and hoops special and frankly more fun than pro sports.

Luck is right
I side with Oliver Luck. University students and graduates degrade themselves and their schools when they use crass language. Even in an emotional place like a stadium, it’s possible to cheer and joke around without using obscenities. When I see an F…ucla or an F…usc shirt, I’m not only disgusted by the sentiment, but I also instinctively form a low opinion of the person wearing the shirt. With the thousands upon thousands of words in our dictionary, surely people can think of something cleaner and more creative to say.
ok maybe no shirts
but “F*CK SC THE ROSE BOWL” is a.great chant, especially when it carries a lot of weight like it did in 1993. So, Oliver f*cking Luck can kiss my ass.
But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.

I swear like a sailor. If you want to look down on me, that’s your call.
On the other hand, I’ll look down on uptight snobs who pretend to be smarter than they are and look down on people who use an occasional obscenity.
Or in short hand, f**k that s**t.
