BN Gameday: Texas Pre-Game Thread

Bruins entering the Rose Bowl to take on the Longhorns in 98. Photo Credit: Donald Miralle, Getty Images.

The kickoff against the Longhorns is scheduled for 12:30 pm PST. Our game thread is going up around 12:15 pm PST and broadcast on ABC or ESPN (depending on your location). So we have some time to take in some other football action while getting ready for the Bruins (while hanging out with Ms. Mary and Mimosas).

In early action today, there is a SBN 12-Pack game between the Duke Blue Devils and Boston College. One of these teams will get a win and yes, I will check into this game because I like rooting for BC. You may also want to keep an eye on West Virginia and Maryland to see what uniforms the Terps roll out at 9:00 am PST. A rivalry game between Colorado State and Colorado kicks off at 10:30 am PST.  Lastly, interesting matchup between two Tigers as Auburn takes on Clemson starting at 9:00 am PST.

If you haven't had a chance, take a look at our BN pick'em thread here.  You can also check out our Texas previews here and here. You can also check out our Texas game page here.

So if you are watching other games today, share your quick takes, observations or pre-game nervous musings, here is our open thread. Have fun.

GO BRUINS.

Since I'm in Ankara, Turkey for work for a couple weeks....

I’m watching Auburn-Clemson on ESPN America. Auburn had a 4th and 4 from around the Clemson 30 yard line. Auburn went for it and the QB nailed the WR on a route that completely fooled the Clemson safety and Auburn scored a TD. I wish we had a similar mindset on 4th down plays.

Be good hosts, Bruins

Show the Longhorns class before the game.

Beat them good in the game.

Show them class afterward.

Go Bruins!!

I would expect no less from all our Bruin brethren in Southern California

Austin really rolled out the burnt orange carpet for all of us who went to see the game last year. The Texas fans were super classy and very gracious in defeat, and showed us a good time even after their team got smacked in the mouth.

I'm tailgating right now...

And it’s already crowded in my area :-) Texas fans are plentiful but polite, and (hold on— gotta get some mustard for my kielbasa :-) so far we’re drinking and playing our tailgate games n no signs of over-zealous security! Omens bode well for a great game today— Go Bruins!!

not crowded at all by us

NO traffic coming in at 10:30 and quite empty by jackie robinson and lot I.

Plenty of police but no problems

Clemson is trying to come back

Their offense shows signs of life, but their defense is pretty porous.

Down 21-7 with the ball deep in Auburn territory late in the 1st half.

Iowa just missed a FG towards the end of the half

Iowa is trailing Pitt 10-3 at half….hoping Iowa turns it down for the pool that I’m in.

Could Be A Rough Year For My Alma Mater

And that’s not going to fly too well in Iowa City – or the state – either.

Hope they can find a way to get it going in the second half.

Best of luck to your boys in the 2nd half.

I win no matter what

One of my sons and I are Bruins grads, but my two other sons are Longhorn grads. Either way I would win. I just hope this game will turn out to be a good game.

Clemson's defense has adjusted

Getting better penetration into the Auburn backfield and putting Auburn into some ugly long downs. Clemson’s offense appears to be feeding off of the sudden stoutness of the defense and has opened up the playbook to short and long passes. Auburn’s defense just got cut apart on the most recent Clemson drive resulting in a Clemson TD. The score is tied 21-21 with a little over a minute left in the 1st half.

How do we get this type of video to our defensive line right now?

I haven't given up on Tresey yet

A bit early, I’m hoping that our boys show better execution and gelling today.

Agree

If ANYTHING, I want our “D” to really step it up today; to show that they’ve got some intestinal fortitude and can be a game-changer.

I want them to show...

…that they have some testicular fortitude.

Time to reach down, man up, and play some defense.

Slightly OT

My gf and I were looking for movies to watch last night and I stumbled upon the emperor’s new groove. I realized something….

Ouch

Penn State just had a TD called back with a holding call… too bad.

by MathBruin on Sep 17, 2011 11:14 AM PDT reply actions

Yep

Remember Temple has never beaten PSU. EVER. They are like 0-35.

This also gives us some perspective on UCLA’s win over Temple, that was dismissed all over the place except here.

WTF !

Just checked my Dish Network schedule for today and our game isn’t being televised in the Reno area. Yesterday’s post said we would be on ABC in this area. A check last night showed the game would be broadcast on ESPN-A. Today shows it’s blacked out and the Reno ABC station is broadcasting the Oklahoma game. WTF!
So far this year the Pac 12 network sucks the big 0ne. Telecasts start after the game begins and they switch away before games end. I hope the 27 million gets p.ut to good use since we can’t see half of our games on TV.

Check again

If you have ESPN, it should be either on ABC (affiliate) or ESPN. One or the other.

Really? I'm showing 28-21 Clemson with 6 minutes left in the 3rd

Am I way behind?
