Mora Sloppy Morgan Admin.
After making the daily call to report my disappointment and disapproval with Dan Geeezzz administration and leadership to the Block's office, I went to Wikipedia to check something and visited Coach Mora's page . To my surprise, his photo had not been updated and I quickly grabbed the best one I could find (I cropped Donut out) and began the process of getting it updated. I have a wiki account but not the licensing permission to use the photo and thus began the effort to do so through the Morgan Center. I do not have to explain to the BN how that has gone...
It's been nearly 7 hours and no movement after two phone calls, an email and leaving a voicemail with the info dept. IMHO our new staff members need to have their online profiles current and attractive. I work with high school students at times, football players at times and I sell UCLA well but this kind of stuff is basic and needs to be addressed ASAP. I can rant about the crap marketing job that's been done but we don't need Mora that... We need regime change, now. Keep up the pressure, call the Block's office (3108252151), keep it saved in your phone and call daily, It makes for good tension release. Can you imagine if any SEC program had Chianti running their program? He would've been chased out long ago.
I've seen a petition in a link on a post by Mexi with 2k+ signatures, read Nestor's great posts on Chianti, the offers of PR assistance, the voided check and have expressed to the UCLA Fund and the Morgan Center why I won't give them more money. If more Bruins out there are willing to contribute valuable hours to organize a full blown campaign, we will succeed in ousting the cancer once and for all. I can contribute 10 hours a week to this effort and know there are more Bruins out there ready to consolidate resources and ensure that our efforts no longer go in vain.
If you are willing and have organizing experience, let's get it going.
Go BRUINS
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

in fairness, anything "legal related" takes time to proces
as with any company, I’ve noticed the “legal related” issues get pushed over to the legal department for review before staff makes any kind of call. staff is scared of making a wrong move and giving out rights that they otherwise own.
this probably got shuffled over to some counsel at UCLA to look at, who has a pile of crap to look at, in a few days that counsel will did a quick analysis and send an email to some decision-maker, who’ll then look at it, and then give the up or down.
all that said, this is stuff Morgan Center should have been on top of months ago…
I searched Spanos on Wiki
and while the first paragraph states he coaches at UCLA, the page is still overwhelmingly Redskins color themes, etc.
So, somebody took the time to update the text; but not the sidebar? DoubleU Tee Eff?

I see that my edit to Dan Guerrero's Wikipedia entry still stand too
but they erased the sources
Dump Dan!
Whatever changes you want to make, get them in before tomorrow!
I think wikipedia will shut down in protest of SOPA tomorrow
Its only shutting down for 24 hours
Which I guess will give Morgan Center enough time to form a wikipedia update committee or something…
Do I smell....a feasibility study?
“We have decided to strap it on and put together a committee to decide whether a Wikipedia updating committee is feasible”
Collective groan
Dump Dan!

If you take a picture, no permission needed.
Someone said, since UCLA a public school, things produced by employees belong to the people of the State of California, people like you.
that really doesn't sound right
if that was the case, all research and publications done by UCLA would be up for grabs, all UCLA trademarks could be freely used and hence all UCLA gear could be freely counterfeited.
See this picture ...
which is in the public domain because it was created by NASA. NASA copyright policy states that “NASA material is not protected by copyright unless noted”.
This is what they said about
Government work
Works of the United States Government and various other governments are excluded from copyright law and may therefore be considered to be in the public domain in their respective countries. In the United States, when copyrighted material is enacted into the law, it enters the public domain. Thus, the building codes, when enacted, are in the public domain. They may also be in the public domain in other countries as well. “It is axiomatic that material in the public domain is not protected by copyright, even when incorporated into a copyrighted work.”
UCLA is part of the STATE of California, not the Federal Government
UCLA is not part of the United State Government, they are part of the University of California, the UC Regents and hence the state of California.
Couple links on UCLA’s ownership of copyrighted works:
http://www.ucop.edu/ott/faculty/crworks.html
http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/copyright/systemwide/pcoi.html
Preamble to 1992 Policy on UC Copyright:
This Policy is intended to embody the spirit of academic tradition, which provides copyright ownership to faculty for their scholarly and aesthetic copyrighted works, and is otherwise consistent with the United States Copyright Law, which provides the University ownership of its employment-related works. Pursuant to Regents’ Standing Order 100.4 (gg), the President has responsibility for all matters relating to intellectual property, including copyrights in which the University is involved.
Similar link and excerpt for UCLA’s:
http://www.asucla.ucla.edu/licensing/trademarkuse.asp
The “UCLA” trademarks are the exclusive property of the Regents of the University of California. The marks include any trademark, service mark, name, logo, insignia, seal, design, or other symbol or device associated with or referring to UCLA. Besides California State Law, and common law rights, “UCLA,” “UCLA Bruins,” “University of California Los Angeles,” and the UCLA unofficial Seal are protected by federal and international intellectual property law.
In order to make products using any UCLA Trademark, you must first obtain a license.
Fair Use
is probably a better defense. your not making money with the image just making more accurate the wiki page with up to date information. in my mind, wikipedia is completely educational and based on the concept of sharing information. if anything, wikipedia would back you and welcome your participation in its educational experience… somewhere you can probably create a footnote as to where the source was from so that they can still gain any benefits from people who want to license the photo… but i am not a lawyer… :)
I wonder if we should say we graduated from UC*A to make sure we're not infringing on the school's ownership of the letters
J*st t* be s*fe, I m going to stop *sing those letters. I don’t to risk *n infringement sit.
It’s not th*t big * thing, *nyw*y. Yo* don’t rea**y need ll 26 *etters. *s or *th*eti* Dire*tor s*ys, “Wh*t’s wrong with Spa*lding Fie*d.”

Coaching Meet and Greet
Well, if all else fails, I’ll take some pictures at the National Signing Day Meet and Greet with the coaching staff.
Then, you shouldn’t have to worry about copyright legalities.
