Coach Mora is recruiting

smart, tough, nasty and physical stud players. He has a vision for what this team is going to look like and soft is nowhere to be found in that vision.

Sounds like pretty much all the guys we recruited during the Neuheisel era.

I can’t recall a single recruit being described as looking soft.

Winning is not a sometime thing; it's an all the time thing. You don't win once in a while; you don't do things right once in a while; you do them right all the time. Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing. ~ Vince Lombardi

It's an attitude

not a look. Coach Mora is looking for hard nosed players.

Kenny Orjioke

is a 16-year old senior? And he’s 6’4", 250lbs??! I’d say, in his case, look and attitude go hand in hand!

What I love is that a lot of these kids are actively recruiting, that’s always good.

As for the guys recruited during the Neu era, we did get some very good players until this last year where Neu just couldn’t sell anything anymore. They just didn’t progress or develop as well as they should have.

But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.

Mark my words

This kid is going to become something really, really special. He has played football all of 2 years and rocketed up to a 3 star as a 16 year old. He doesn’t weigh 250lbs… yet. He played as a safety and OLB. He will redshirt the first year without a doubt. Training under Alosi, he will grow into a hybrid 3-4 monster LB or DE.

Our version of Aldon Smith?

Eh, eh? Ok, apologies. I’m stuck in 49ers mode for this week.

No apology needed

because you might be spot on! Even if he didn’t grow another inch and just filled out, he has the physicality, smarts and speed to become a tremendous linebacker in a 3-4 or a 4-3 defense if he puts in the work it takes to get to that level.

Lutui decommited

http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&c=1&nid=4952781

Seems like he really wanted to play with his cousin and hs teammates, and at least cousin folasa didn’t qualify. That loss stings a bit, seems like he’d be a great player but you can’t blame a kid for wanting to stay close with family i guess. Just don’t go to sc!! We’ll have to wait for signing day, stranger things have happened…

I liked Lutui's nasty attitude

but Hulick may be even nastier, with a chip on his shoulder and something to prove. Hulick will overachieve and will be a relentless, already extremely strong, drive blocking center. The kid looks like he has played for the Steelers for 10 years!

Plus a wrestler!

I always like when I see a kid is also a wrestler, no body out works the wrestlers. Just want you want from a mean an nasty lineman!

We had a Local wrestler some years back...

Jacob Waasdorp who went to CAL.(I think!) as a “D” lineman. That kid was amazingly tough to block. Had GREAT balance and was deceptively strong. May Hulick be just a good!!!

I didn't know

Hulick was also a wrestler, but he sure does look the part. Great combination of strength and balance plus nasty!

Cal got "sarked" again!

Read yesterday that Cal now lost their OC to Washington! I would think that it only improves are chances of flipping some of those already fence sitting commits!! I’m really hopeful for the WR after getting work by our McCarthy and Adams….both prior Cal commits.
