Game Thread for UCLA at OSU: Team vs. MVP
UCLA Bruins at Oregon St. Beavers, Jan 19, 2012 7:30 PM PST
The Pac-12's top scorer, Jared Cunningham, leads the high scoring Beavers against the Bruins tonight at 7:36 p.m. PST at Gill Coliseum. UCLA needs a win tonight against a OSU team that is 1-4 in conference but 8-2 at home.
Jerime Anderson hurt his tailbone but will play. De'End Parker is done for the year and will transfer meaning UCLA really only has Norman Powell to backup the PG, SG, and SF spots. UCLA needs to win tonight against OSU to keep their hopes alive for the Pac-12 title.
The official UCLA preview is here and gametracker here. A good match up preview at Bruin Report Online Preview is here. Bruins Nation stories are on the side. Lastly, the Oregon State preview is here.
Go Bruins!

OSU doesn't need a logo on our balls
because they’re already Beaver colors ;)
Lalalalalala
You can’t break my fantasy bubble~
[plugs ears]
No word on whether or not Jamie Graham will accept Howland's invitation?
Can’t imagine they’d be expecting much out of him, but he would be another guard.
It is so late but
It could not hurt. Some point this year, we are going to need another guard.
Yeah, since they're illegal and all that business...
…Big Media is looking for reasons to sue.
Sorry for the bummer.
Time for the Obama drinking game
Over under for how many times they mention it??
Should be on Fox Primeticket, yeah?
I’m watching the end of LMU v BYU. hoping our game is up next.

This game is dragging

Watching Beaver Country here on Fox Sports South
My two favorite teams are UCLA and whoever is playing $C.
I know!
So excited – but doubt I can watch the whole thing – too much priv logging to do in the morning. Ugh.
My own opinion....
CBH may…repeat…may have learned his lesson on managing players egos. Two years ago it was Serbian bricklayer, last year and the beginning of this was Dr. Reeves and Mr. Nelson. The players are starting to develop and grow…I’m looking forward to this weekend’s results!
Go Bruins!
My two favorite teams are UCLA and whoever is playing $C.
BYU is down 10 with 30 seconds to go ...
and they are fouling and calling time outs
I’m sure PT will then go to five minutes of commercials before they go to the UCLA game.
Travis Wall stoppes a shot...
but OSU gets an oboard and scores
My two favorite teams are UCLA and whoever is playing $C.
Cunningham on a jumper over David
4 – 0 beavers

LA is finally getting the game feed
Thanks, FOX

Altho ‘checking in’ at 6-0 sure made me wish they had kept the LMU/BYU game on for a bit longer…

Collier on a drive under David..

Lamb is just bad on D
He is becoming a good passer but he is weak on D
He is better passer
but on D, your no kidding
Cunningham is down...

Travis gets rolled under...scored on and one

Smith put his hand on the ball, forcing the guy to come down with the ball..
that’s a jump ball by rule. If JS didn’t touch the ball, that’s a travel
My two favorite teams are UCLA and whoever is playing $C.
Both encouraged and discouraged
We don’t look good at all, but we’re hanging around in this. Good teams hang around even when they’re playing poorly, especially on the road. Keep this up then let’s see if we can flip the switch coming out of the half.

Stanford game we never flipped the switch
and that’s the true test of a good team. They have a run in them. Let’s see if we have one in us today. If not then we really haven’t gotten better since then.

Yes and no
our breaking the press and in-bounding does, but we are doing a good job within the offense.
Back to man...
forced a long shot that clanked

OSU scores on a pass from the baseline around the Wears
26 – 21 Beavers
My two favorite teams are UCLA and whoever is playing $C.
That is another reason why Stover is a liability
He needs to get that rebound. It is not just offense.
First time this year with this team on the floor (I think)
JA, LJ, DW, TW, AS
just realized i forgot to cancel my ucla all access pass!!

JS makes like wall!
DWear hits…32 – 30 Bruins
My two favorite teams are UCLA and whoever is playing $C.
The offense is looking good
Having trouble with the pressure but mostly taking good shots.
Powell and Lamb have 2 fouls
I think we are going to lose one or both of them to fouling out tonight
I'm really sick ... bad flu ...
going to bed …
when I wake up, I want to read about a UCLA win.
Go Bruins.
Good night
Link?
I am in Chicago, and the game will not be on until 12:30 AM…loyal a fan as I am, I’ll DVR it and watch the replay tomorrow….any have a feed I can grab to watch the second half??

38 – 36

So how you feeling? I am okay consider we spotted you 8 but worried about Cunningham going off in the second half
Well we can agree on that
beat the trojans as well
Wish we had them up here for football this year
For some reason, no matter how bad we are and how good they are, they’re good for a W somehow lately
It's too late to watch the second half.
I watched as much as I could. I have to say that I am not impressed by Josh Smith. It doesn’t look like he can jump, and he looks dreadfully slow. I’m sure he’s doing his best, but he doesn’t look like the kind of player I’m used to seeing in the blue and gold. Is he better than he looks? Does he look so slow because of his weight?
I’ll look at the answers tomorrow.
(By the way – OSU’s coach looks a lot like Michelle Obama. They’re not related are they? With the sound off, all I saw was the occasional graphiic about every 30 seconds.)
He does have 4 rebounds
in only 12 minutes all on D. I think he is playing good, not great.
to distract from the game a bit...
For the Android users on here, Ice Cream Sandwich (newest version of Android – 4.0) is pretty darn nice. If you are able to upgrade your phone/tablet, it seems worth it, at least after a couple days use.

how funny you bring that up
I just picked up a galaxy nexus a few days ago. the Face unlock feature is mildly amusing/convenient and the whole system is really speedy.
coming from a tablet pov (and runing an early non-oem build - CM9 for folks that know what that is)
The UI is significantly improved over 2.2 and 2.3, feels faster, better attempt of multitasking. What I have running on my tablet is really a public alpha build of ICS, so not everything works or has been optimized yet, but even with those issues, liking this much better than Gingerbread.

What's notable about it besides it looking really nice?
and not made by apple? it does look pretty bad ass

We are not a good enough team to force any team to take timeouts early (other than USC and ASU I guess)
We are out of sync
I am okay with the TO call. We play our game on offense we will score or get a good shot. ALso need Josh or Stover I think

he fouled him but that is it
and at the end of the mess...
58 0 51 Beavers

How did we fall so far behind?
They are controlling the game – we look disjointed – but Powell gets a 3 anyway
They're panicking
They keep thinking we need to out-run then to win rather than just play defense and control the play
Just opened my last bottle of Trader Joe's vintage/holiday ale
given that I get to write tonight’s postgame, I think I am going to need it…

Yeah I am scared, hopefully we weathered their run
and they stop shooting 62% (we start playing better D).
I was hoping we had the run. Maybe we still have one in us.
The sad part is, they've played well except for the past 4 minutes

Lamb blew it
JA gets TO but Lamb stopped on a break
Not too many stops
I’m sure they are still over 50% shooting

Alright I'm done here
this game was meaningless anyway right? Only winning the pac-12 tournament can get us into the NCAA tournament?
or rather, is this whole season worthless, we’re just waiting for Kyle Anderson and Jordan Adams to get here?
Stubborn Howland
Where was the zone defense? Just to mix it up.
Sit Lamb and play Powell!

What's her names brother has outcoached Howland
We have been out of balance all game. Can’t handle their changing d.
They are more cconfident
sjh
Coach at a seven man rotation
and those guys never seemed to get tired.
can't be the main problem
It’s not like you play back to back games in college or anything…stating the obvious here but the team has obviously been depleted over the years from early departures, Howland has done a poor job recruiting and our remaining guys have not stepped up the way we hoped

We lost it during that stretch with 4 turnovers in row which resulted in
quick fast break points for them. Of course, the D was horrible all game
by UCLA Championships Made Here on Jan 19, 2012 9:40 PM PST reply actions
Well I thought Lamb would foul out but not this way
SPTR were okay tonight. We lost because we could not stop them,
Good night all.
Off the top of your head, Anyone know what time the game is Saturday?
Been a Bruin since birth
It was not that close
They made a run and that was it
After trading baskets all game
We blinked they had a run and that was it. We had a weird T for holding a guys shorts but really in a game where the defense was at a minimum (On both sides), the first run was going to determine who wins. They had it, they won.
Kind of like Cal in that they shot 58% for the game but not as bad.
Falling behind by 8 to start the game
when we should have stayed even or pulled away.
Can’t come out that bad and expect to win games.
sjh
First career win for Craig Washington against UCLA
We’re breaking new ground again and again in a bad way.
Did anyone see
the Howland commerical for the rib joint? What’s next, a guided tour to the Amalfi Cost for $6000 a pop (or whatever strap-on is charging)?
