I guess they found out that he's not actually 6'8
and work ethic makes all the difference for undersized forwards in the NBA
Dump Dan!
you must've also stood next to him in person
i didn’t know they had him listed at 6’8…. that’s way too generous
Yup talked to him at Pauley when he was catching a game as a high school senior
Listed as 6’8 on his UCLA bio but I know he can’t be taller than 6’5-6’6. Maybe it was the hair

But hey!
He has two points in the NBA now! That makes leaving worth it, right???
Roses are red, violets are blue...f*** $C.
is that even possible at this point?
I thought he got a 3 yr contract with 2 guaranteed
This is probably likely if just to do rehab on his knee
1st or 2nd year players can be sent to the D-league to rehab injuries.
Just read about Malcolm Lee's injury
He’s out for 6 weeks, very unfortunate…it’s the same meniscus that he tore while playing with us last season.
Considering how many minutes he’s getting (none), I wonder if he would have been likely to aggravate his injury again while playing major minutes with UCLA this season. While we all would have loved for him to stay for a 4th year, you gotta wonder if this weak 2011 draft and shortened season was his only chance to make the NBA, especially if he tore his meniscus again…
Ooops... I just posted about this upthread a bit
The team is saying the this tear is unrelated to the one at UCLA, but you have to wonder if that is just spin.
Yeah, obviously the team can fudge details
Reports are that it’s the left knee this time that Lee injured. He injured the right knee just prior to the NCAAs last year.
That said, I don’t fault Lee for leaving. I don’t think he would’ve improved his draft stock much more. The book was already out on him — solid defender, combo guard, not strong at creating his own shot, somewhat of a slasher. I don’t think he would’ve improved tremendously on the offensive side of the ball in just one year given that he hadn’t done so in the previous three. As a comparison, look at Luc — tried to add offensive diversity to his game as a JR, and years later as a pro, he’s still a weak offensive player.
And yeah, given the loaded class of wing players this year, it was no surprise really that Honeycutt and Lee decided to leave early. They would’ve been buried in this year’s draft.
honestly with the cluster$#@ that is UCLA Basketball this year...
I can’t blame either Honeycutt or ML for leaving…
