Pretty interesting response from Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott when he was asked "how important is a UCLA resurrection" to him:
"Very. UCLA is one of the biggest school brands in the country, both in athletics and academics. It's the second largest media market in the country with a very large alumni base. When they're up, it's helpful for the conference. I welcome Jim Mora. I won't offer my opinions about how they improve."
Notice couple of things. First, he doesn't give a thumbs up or thumbs down on Jim Mora as a coach. Second, it is interesting how he doesn't mention anything about whether UCLA is on the right or wrong track. His non comment there IMHO is kind of telling.
One gets the sense Chianti Dan is probably seen as a joke among his peers in the Pac-12. Given where Scott comes from he probably thinks Dan is an incompetent noob who is not only diminishing UCLA's brand but also hurting the conference.
