Psalm Wooching Flips to UW

Looks like Psalm Wooching, a top ten rated full back from the Hawaii, has decommitted from UCLA and will now be playing ball for the Huskies.

Wooching had been a soft verbal for a long time to UCLA but had reopened his recruiting since the departure of RN.

This was to be expected not only because the kid was always leaning away from us, but since we also received a commitment from Upland FB Christian Powell (Scout has Powell at fourth best FB in the nation while Wooching is ranked ninth). Also, lets not forget that since his soft verbal, alot has changed in terms of offensive scheme, so maybe he no longer fits our needs.

See story here.

Anyways, best of luck to him and GO BRUINS!

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

Expected for a while

I’m not shocked to see that he made it official. He was a good fit as a F-back or H-back, but with Rick out and Mazzone in, there isn’t much need for him on the offensive side of the ball. The rumor was that he’d be moved to OLB under Mora and Psalm is one of those kids who had delusions of playing tail back in college (a la Anthony Barr, who will FINALLY be used properly under Mora).

Welcome to BN: keep the contributions coming.

Good luck to Psalm

Now, who had the next best name in the recruiting class?

Also, to everyone moaning that we are over signing, this is a reason that we shouldn’t worry so much about the possibility just yet. We still may have a small surplus of signees when it’s done, but there are still a lot of things up in the air. Let’s see how it plays out over another week.

Good post, BPD. My brother worked as a PD for a long time.

Yep

Good luck to him. But we still have Steven Lakalaka! He is a solid verbal. Plus we also have Laiu Moeakiola although he may not stick since Litui is off the board. But we sill got Lakalaka baby!

Good luck to him

I believe OL Makoo has decommitted as well as he couldn’t get through the admissions.

4ever

You are on top of this stuff as well as anyone. What do you think about putting it together in a fanpost every other day (building on the recruiting posts going on frontpage)? Could be fun.

I guess I am following this

like a bloodhound that’s caught a scent. Are you talking a fresh fanpost or merely updating this one every couple of days?

You want to try a fresh fanpost every 2 to 3 days?

That’d thread together the nuggets you are finding and fanshotting? You can still keep fanshotting but its kind of fun when you put it together. We will get you addicted to blogging. LOL

Also

tops in the Pac-12. No U$C in the top 25.

On Rivals, UCLA is 18th, and 4th in the Pac-12 but not by much (15 Cal, 16 Stanford, 17 U$C). Califootball.

But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.

Though, as I posted elsewhere

2011 was not a very good recruiting year for UCLA. We dropped from ranking in the the top 15 the three prior years to #45 and #55 (Rivals and Scouts) ranking in 2011. Coach Mora and staff have a lot of ground to make up.

Right

and just imagine what another year like that would have done to the roster. That’s where it was headed before the new staff came on.

But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.
