Game Thread for Utah Utes vs. UCLA Bruins: The Minutes Question

Utah Utes at UCLA Bruins, Jan 26, 2012 7:30 PM PST

The program that does this automatically lists the game as at UCLA. While we may be the home team officially I don't feel comfortable ever listing us as such when we play at the Sports Arena. Tonight's game is at 7:32 p.m. on Prime Ticket with Joel Meyers and Don MacLean. As mentioned earlier, Utah has not won a game this year on the road.

Bruins Nation articles are on the side. The official preview is here and gametracker is here. The Utah Utes preview is here. David Wear tweaked his knee and is listed as probable tonight but I would be shocked if he does not play.

The bigger question is how many minutes will the starters play. As CBH has said UCLA's only way to get to the NCAA tournament is to win the Pac-12 tournament, that seems to mean playing a lot of players. For 3 or 4 games in as many days would be tough for the players if they are playing 30+ for each game. Will Stover and Powell see more early minutes tonight? Stover's energy has been a big plus.

Go Bruins.

I want to see Josh

DESERVE to be in the game AT ALL.

Yes, he’s just a young man. But so, too, are those of his teammates — and opponents — who are willing to give 100%.

Miserable pessimism

Weak opponent, like ASU. Josh will have a “big” game (at least for him) and Howland will continue on the same plan. Stover will get decent minutes, but in the next big game, forget it.

I’ll throw in, BH will plan MAN D all night and our W will convince him that the team is improving. There will be no practicing zone. Next tough opponent, especially on the road, will be more Bruin heart-ache.

Want to observe Powell body language. Rumors, rumors, rumors.

Chianti never understood ...

that there are almost zero Bruins who wanted to see games at USC’s home court.

Not securing the Forum was a monumental failure.

Bruins hate the Sports Arena.

by Achilles on Jan 26, 2012 7:36 PM PST reply actions

My understanding has been

the Forum WAS an option, but Chianti Dan didn’t act fast enough.

Is this incorrect?

by HighDesertBruin on Jan 26, 2012 7:47 PM PST via mobile up reply actions

The Forum

We were going to play in the Forum, but it was sold to Madison Square Garden (MSG) and turned into a venue that wouldn’t support basketball

Wish all the games were at the Honda Center, been to a couple of games their with the family, everyone had a great time.

by Redondo228 on Jan 26, 2012 7:52 PM PST up reply actions

Ah, OK.

Surprised to discover something I can’t blame on Guerror.

Indeed, playing all our “home” games st the Honda Center would have been MUCH better.

I’m sure our astronomically out of touch athletic disrespecter, however, figured that would compromise attendance.

Genius.

by HighDesertBruin on Jan 26, 2012 7:58 PM PST via mobile up reply actions

Busch Gardens now has Cheetah Chase, which is a nice, mellow ride. Sheikra is another good one, but I still lean toward Montu, a foot dangler with seven inversions.
