"What we're going to have to do to make the tournament is win the Pac-12 tournament. That's very clear." [and save Howland's job in Westwood - BN Eds.]

LOL
Thanks Ben. Way to give the kids a pass on this season. Hey guys, no need to play hard anymore, just show up for the tournament and it’s all good!
Do all teams even make the tournament?
But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.
I think he said that near the beginning of the season too
also, check out this gem:
#arizonawildcats Jesse Perry on giving up about 90 pounds to UCLA C Joshua Smith: “I have a big edge. He can’t run with me.”
from here
isn't what he said true?
after so many bad losses, a lack of anything close to a quality win, and a grand total of zero ranked teams in the Pac 12, I feel like we’d have to run the table just to be on the bubble for an at-large bid.
if the team uses that as an excuse to slack off the rest of the season then.. why are they even here?

Of course it's true
which is why conference tournaments suck. Case in point: even U$C won it once.
Regardless, the team doesn’t really need this as an excuse to slack off, they do that on their own just plenty.
Howland is dead set on making it work with the Wear twins, and it will end up costing him.
But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.
I honestly don't know what to say anymore.
John Wooden. It’s become absolutely clear to me, that what’ve dreamily been calling “UCLA Basketball” all these years, was in fact, “John Wooden Basketball”. My school is not behind establishing, and maintaining an elite basketball program. My school was never behind this. Nope. John Wooden, the man, was responsible for all of it. If anything, UCLA gave Wooden the room he needed to operate.
I raise this point here, because, frankly, I’m done with UCLA Basketball. Howland stated a few weeks ago, that in his own view, it would take the tournament for us to get to the dance. People, that’s no different than if anyone on this board was the HC. By virtue of being in the Pac-12, any team can get in the tournament. For UCLA to even tolerate a coach being in this kind of position in DECEMBER (yes, I’m yelling), well, let’s just say, I’m fit to be tied.
Hey, when I was an Undergrad History major… and the professor said the only thing that counts was the “final”, I absolutely did not attend a single class until the “final”.
Ben Howland makes me sick. See you guys when the Pac-12 tourney starts. With Dan being all smug about his tenure. With Gene being cool with that. And Ben blowing off the season… why bother? Why?
U-C-L-A Fight, Fight, Fight! Go Bruins! Go Lakers! Go Dodgers! Go Angels!
Ben Howland empties my passion bucket for UCLA Basketball, and I resent it.
I am with you
I have not watched a single game since the LMU disaster, and don’t plan on watching another one either. I thought I would be going to the game on Thursday or Saturday, given that it’s only a 10 minute drive for me, but to hell with Chianti Dan and to hell with this brand of basketball.
Watching a Ben Howland team feels like having severe constipation, or passing a kidney stone. It is beyond awful. It looks like Karl Dorrell’s version of the West Coast Offense.
But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.
