"We’re working on a $160-million renovation of our football situation." -Dan Guerrero
And by "We" you mean "not us" but rather the City of Pasadena and a private philanthropic group, Legacy Connections (link).
Oh, yeah, I could see how you would get that confused...
Keep searching. The truth is out there.

Hey Dan, I'm working on a multi-million dollar renovation of my skiing situation
Well, actually, Vail is building a new gondola. But since I have skied there I’ll just try to get away with calling that my own.

Do you think Guerrerror really thinks that he's telling the truth?
Either way, he has demonstrated such a lack of character that he should be fired. I wonder if this sort of lying by not telling the whole truth would be the basis for termination for cause?
If we take him at his word, then can it be said that he’s misusing funds? I didn’t see any authorization for a $160M renovation of anything. You smart lawyers out there: Is that a basis for a qui tam action? (I think it’s a stretch, myself, but maybe not.)
I'm no lawyer, I'm a 24-year old recent graduate but I know he's been swindling the California taxpayers.
Being paid nearly $700K for outsourcing his work, lying to students, destroying our internationally recognized brand and driving our beloved athletics program into the ground should be basis for dismissal (at least).
Dump Dan!

there has got to be a cause of action that wouldn't get the plaintiff(s) sued for malicious prosecution
Do we have enough creative legal minds to find one? I’m a defense lawyer, so my imagination is limited by almost 40 years of trying to push everything back into the box.

Me, too
I’m working on a multi-billion dollar R&D project to improve our cosmic understanding situation. I’m contributing idle computer hours to Seti@home, Einstein@home, etc. NASA and other agencies are contributing the rest.
My favorite line is
“what’s wrong with Spaulding field?” hahaha this guy is something special.

It's pretty epic
Bellerophon blogged about this article earlier in the week but Chianti’s comments are so amazing(ly tonedeaf) that they are worth revisiting over and over again.
That quote stood out to me too.
Almost as much as “strapping it on,” but for other reasons.

Has Dan ever gone to a football practice?
I have been reading practice reports from multiple outlets every day for years. I have never heard about DG going out to Spaulding.
I went to several practices from 08-10
never saw Dan there. Not sure if he knows where Spaudling Field is.
Dump Dan!

He's there every day, at every practice
He pulled rank and got a seat right smack dab on the 50 yard line.
You're wrong Fox
He sits on the 40 yard line…
But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.
the funny thing is our field goes from 30 to 50 at midfield. no 40 marker.

I thought you were just alluding to the field being 80 yards generally.
I think it’s funny that they made midfield the 50 anyway.

what he could have said
If I thought he knew something about football, and the way the program is most likely run in my mind in regards to that field, then he could have acknowledged like this:
Spaulding is mainly for inputting offense, so an 80 yard field is adequate for red zone offense practice, etc., and instituting plays before games in a covert way behind fences and the cover of Pauley.
That may be the advantage of Spaulding. Anyone know?
Also, Mora could require practicing at the Rose Bowl on certain days where he finds it necessary. The turf is the main issue with the 80 yard field I think. Loose sand, uneven field? Hope that’s not true.
The use of the word situation is appalling.
It’s a stadium, you jackass, and 1) you’re not the one performing 160 million dollar facelift. 2) It in now way addresses our facilities right here on campus.
Winning is not a sometime thing; it's an all the time thing. You don't win once in a while; you don't do things right once in a while; you do them right all the time. Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing. ~ Vince Lombardi
Appalling but accurate in a way
I wish we could get a renovation of our “football situation” up here after this last season…
After watching Jersey Shore recently...
(can only take about 5 minutes of that train wreck), the light finally went on…
This type of stuff is so depressing to read
That an AD like UCLA is run by such a devious and incompetent joke like DG is tragic.
