Raymond Nelson, bother of Reeves, was kicked off the football team today by Coach Jim Mora:
Raymond Nelson, freshman tight end at UCLA, has been kicked off the team for an incident that occurred prior to the Bruins' playing Illinois in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl.
Nelson was sent home the day before the game for violating team rules, according to according to a person with knowledge of the situation who was not authorized to speak on the subject. Coach Jim Mora, hired last month, reviewed the situation before making his decision.
Neither Mora nor Nelson could be reached for comment.
My first thought is what the hell happened? It must of been pretty bad for Mora to kick him off the team. I say, great job Coach. He said he was going to clean up this stuff, change the culture, and if this is the first step to that, then I am all for it.
My other thought is what is with this family. I am not trying to blame anyone for anything, but you gotta wonder where the parenting was early in these kids lives. Maybe I am being too judgemental, but it is now clear that both of these kids are not mature enough to be in college, and have probably been entitled their whole lives. That is only my judgement and opinion, but to have one bad apple make multiple mistakes is one thing. To have another apple fall off the tree and make the same apparent mistakes, when the other one just got kicked to the side of the road is really, really stupid and just incredible. Wouldn't you think these guys would learn. What about the parents? If that was my kid, I would be kicking their respective as***.
I guess on a good note this clears a scholarship for a more talented, and disciplined player who respects the four letters and the university that they represent. The Nelson era just like the Pistol OVER!
