Will this be the year for UCLA women's soccer team?

Looks like this year we may have a decent shot to bring home an NCAA banner. Bruins are ranked number 3 in the nation and they remained undefeated after posting a 2-1 victory over Colorado on Friday night and a 2-0 win over Utah today. Bruins now have a record 14-0-2, 7-0-1 in the Pac-12.

Against Utah today (via @UCLAWSoccer) Chelsea Cline got the party started at 77:08 with an assist from Ally Courtnall. Rosie White than piled on with 5th goal of the season at 85:00. Not too shabby at all. The official site has the details on Friday's big win:

Third-ranked UCLA remained undefeated this season after posting a 2-1 victory over Colorado on Friday night at Drake Stadium. The Bruins (13-0-2, 6-0-1 in the Pac-12) received goals by defender Lucretia Lee and midfielder Sarah Killion.

After 41 minutes of scoreless soccer to start the game, the Bruins took the lead on Lee's first career goal. After a run by Zakiya Bywaters led to a corner kick, Killion sent the corner kick low into the box. The ball got past Colorado goalkeeper Annie Brunner, and Lee was there to slam the ball into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead. [...]

In the second half, the Bruins increased their lead to 2-0 at 70:34 when Colorado was called for a handball in the box. Killion scored on the penalty kick for her second goal of the year.

The Buffaloes made it interesting at 85:00 when Bianca Jones sent a 40-yard shot into the back of the net far post to cut UCLA's lead to 2-1, but the Bruin defense held strong to preserve the victory despite a frantic Colorado offensive push in the final five minutes.

We have come so close before only to lose heart breakiers in the Final-4. Can we finally bring home a championship this year? Would love to hear more from the soccer fanatics on BN about our programs (both women and men) this year. Thoughts?

GO BRUINS.
