Veteran's Day: Thank You to All Who Serve

Veteran's Day marks not just the anniversary of the end of the First World War, but an opportunity for all Americans to stop and pay homage to the men and women who have served this great nation, who have sacrificed for the cause of liberty, and who make the freedoms we all enjoy possible.

Today is November 11, and while in some parts of the world, it's just another day, for many of us, today is a day for remembrance and gratitude. On the anniversary of the end of the war that was supposed to end all wars (oh, how naive we were/are), we still set aside this day to remember and honor the men and women who currently serve and who have served our Republic, throughout the history of our great nation.

So today, we at Bruins Nation want to take the opportunity to tell all of our veterans: thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your selfless dedication to all of us, all of our freedoms, and to our great nation. Thank you so very much.

Today, while we celebrate a big road win over the Cougars, from the comforts of our own homes on a sunny California Sunday, many of our brethren are in uniform, in some distant land, far from the family and friends. They come from across our great Republic, and include us all: Bruins, Bears, Cougars, the Cardinal, Ducks, Sun Devils, Beavers, Wildcats, Huskies, Utes, Buffaloes, and even the Trojans. If you find yourself traveling and you see one of these servicemen or servicewomen, shake their hand, wish them safety, and thank them for their sacrifices upon the altar of liberty.

And on Veteran's Day, we want to highlight our pride in the many Bruins who have served in uniform or who are currently serving in uniform, keeping alive a proud tradition of service to the Republic by Bruins, that includes fellow great Bruins like Jackie Robinson (U.S. Army, 1942-1944), Lynn "Buck" Compton (U.S. Army 1943-1945), and Francis Wai (U.S. Army 1940-1944, Medal of Honor).

So, to all of our current service-members, as well as all of our veterans, thank you for your service. All of us owe you a debt of gratitude that no words can convey and without all of our veterans and their honorable service, our great Republic could not, and would not, exist today.

Thank you so very much.
