On Tuesday Today on my way to class, I noticed that the new Wooden statue received the same "hibernation" treatment that the Bruin bear statue has received, what with the black box being placed around it and all.

I understand that Southern Cal tends to be prone to chronic bursts of immaturity, so it's hard for me to say that this isn't a smart precautionary measure to take. But it really speaks volumes about the lack of integrity we've come to expect from the Southern Cal student body. (I won't even mention the lack of integrity of Los Angeles' only professional football team).

Wooden is an icon, a city treasure, someone who should be above such petty antics. That's why this weekend is our chance to remind Southern Cal that character, not talent, is the essential ingredient to any winning formula.
