Finally, here it is.
This is the video that played on the bigscreen Saturday night after Johnathan Franklin's first quarter touchdown run broke the career rushing mark at U.C.L.A. that was held since 1987 by Gaston Green.
As we would expect from a Bruin, Gaston Green shows his total class in recording this message and being so complimentary of Johnathan Franklin. I got to watch Gaston in his heyday, and I remember the advertisements during his senior year when he was a Heisman contender: Paint the Rose Bowl Blue, Gold, and Green! Gaston was a huge star for us then, and he followed it with a nice career in the NFL including a Pro Bowl appearance, and he still looks like he could slip on some pads and teach the youngsters a few tricks, too.
There was never any doubt about Gaston's class and loyalty to U.C.L.A. as Gaston came back to campus last season to complete his degree. Gaston Green and Johnathan Franklin: a great pair of Bruins, on and off the field.
Honestly, we should have seen this video posted all over the U.C.L.A. site on Saturday evening after the game, but then the Morgan Center folks are all government employees.
