The first game of the new Pauley is a chance for UCLA to show they deserve their top 20 ranking and make Coach proud.
This was written before the big story of the night, go here to talk about Shabazz
As we kick off the 2012-13 season tonight, the number one story is not the players on the floor and the arena that holds the floor itself. The Nell and John Wooden court and the new Pauley Pavilion are the story for this sell out game against Indiana State University. Coach's first gig was at ISU and tonight is about doing Coach's legacy proud.
For an opener this game is really important for a number of reasons, including:
- Honoring Coach
- A number of star recruits (and hopefully future Bruins) will be present.
- The debut of three-fourths of the # 1 UCLA recruiting class.
- The new "running" Bruins. Will UCLA run as much as Coach Howland says?
- The first chance to prove UCLA deserves their #13 ranking.
As far as the game itself, the official preview is here. The ISU preview is here.
Go Bruins.
