Taking Questions for an Interview with Incoming UCLA OL Alexandru Ceachir
Hi Everyone,
I'm a JUCO/high school sports reporter on the westside who will be interviewing UCLA signee OL Alexandru Ceachir tomorrow about why he chose UCLA and a couple of other topics. If the board has any specific questions they want asked, you can email me the question at Ed [at] SportsJournalLA [dot] com or leave a comment on this post and i'll check in before my chat with Ceachir. We did this for some of the area high school players during signing day and they really enjoyed hearing from the fans. I'll post a link of the video here after I edit it.
Thanks,
Ed Gonzalez

Have you started working out
under the direction of S&C Coach Sal Alosi yet? If yes, what are your early impressions? What are your goals under his program?
this is definitely the biggest area I'd be interested in
what are the workouts like compared to SMC.
Who has inspired and motivated you in football?
Coaches, peer players, etc.
But, first, a warm welcome to the greatest university in the world, Alexandru. Go Bruins.
On the same line
I would love to hear if he has an NFL OL or someone else in the college ranks, he models his game after?
Also, would be interested in what he is going to major in and what he wants to do after he is done with his football career.
Great Qs
As comments following an L.A. Sports Journal story indicate, there is much more to Alexandru than football :
“Great player, even better person.”Your questions gently probe that intelligence, N. Nice.
“Not only is UCLA getting a top notch lineman, but they’re also receiving a top notch human being. A win-win situation for both player and school.”
Another question: I’m not sure how long Alexandru has been in the U.S., but I’d love to hear about Moldovan sports programs and their place in Moldovan society: particular sports, training methods, what sports mean to Moldovans, etc.
p.s. Interesting how Alexandru had bonded with Coach Chow and was all set to attend Utah, but decided that Hawaii wasn’t for him when Chow accepted the HC position there. Fortunately for UCLA, he had also formed a personal relationship with Coach Klemm, who was at SMU at the time. Relationships seem important to Alexandru. I like that.
Ed G.: Perhaps “relationships” is yet another line of questions.
I would also like to know why he chose UCLA.
Seems that he had other options. I understand the Klemm draw, but I would really like to hear it from Alexandru. Was it a style of play here he was interested in? Did he like the academics? Did he want to play for a particular coach? Did he just want to stay close to Santa Monica? Also interested in the strength and conditioning.
Also interested in the transition into English.
How does coming from a different culture using a different language affect his interaction with teammates.
Love the feedback!
Thanks for all the feedback. I always enjoy coming on the SB Nation boards and Bruin Nation is no exception. The fans on the Boise State board and Washington State were energetic as well.
I’m having his junior college head coach at Santa Monica College Gifford Lindheim join us in the interview so it should be interesting. Normally I shoot for about 5 minutes but with all the great questions and Cheech’s interesting background, this will be a little longer.
The interview is in the afternoon, so if you post your question by noon, I will try to include it.
Thanks.

What is the thing that
P*sses him off most about defensive players And makes him want to annihilate the player(s) in question? (I.e. trash talking or just lining up opposite him).
Most creative / angering dirty trick he’s seen by opposing players?
How do American football players stack up against Russian football players?

Thanks for all the questions. Will post it tomorrow
Just finished editing the video with Alexandru and will post it first thing tomorrow morning. It was a 15 minute interview and had to break it into 3 parts. I will put up the links to it in a separate post. Once again, thanks again for all the questions. Tried to get in as many as I could.
