Will face a 2 game suspension... disappointing to hear about this. Sounds like it was intentional from what Love says in the report.

Hopefully we don't hear more stories like this from Kevin Love...

Mind you, the guy he stepped on hit him in the groin...

…with the basketball in a previous game. On non-accident “accident” doesn’t get penalized and one non-accident “accident” does.

Scola also has a reputation for being a very dirty player. I don’t think two wrongs make a right, but it says one thing about Love’s character if he hasn’t been provoked and says something else if he’s retaliating against a guy who hit him in the balls.

Scola is a super dirty player

and Love has been getting absolutely mauled in this game and many others. The fact that he still gets his rebounds and points is a testament to how tough he is. He is better than Griffin but Griffin gets all the dumb hype because of his dunks.

Still, no room for that retaliation…

But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.

Stepping on someone's face is a dirty move

As is chucking the ball into someone else’s nuts. The latter has the additional distinction of going against “Man Law”.

The announcers also missed Scola trying to trip Love...

…on the previous play after flopping. Nor do I see how Love was stepping on Scola’s face. His foot landed on Scola’s chest.

I have to blame the officials for letting it get to this point. When they call the fouls they should, players are less likely to take matters into their own hands.

I’m glad the league is stepping in now, because they obviously couldn’t let Love get away with that, but it’s a bit late.

NBA refs are a joke

I’m surprised more players haven’t gone ballistic with the way the games are being called.

by UCLA4Life on Feb 7, 2012 3:05 AM PST reply actions

Lockout is killing the quality of the refs

I think these refs are just mentally exhausted at this point with the brutal schedule. I watch a lot of NBA games, and the officiating has been terrible. fouls are inconsistently called, refs are missing a lot of off-the-ball thuggery, refs are being bullied (more) by the home crowd, techs are getting quicker and more inconsistently given, it’s been a mess…

In short

Another reason not to watch the NBA…not that I needed one.

But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.

By the way, Love didn't "stomp" on Scola's face, as you know.

He didn’t even “stomp” on Scola’s chest. As anyone can tell by watching the video.

by Seth Chandler on Feb 7, 2012 9:36 AM PST reply actions

Well, with Scola's face

it’s a natural mistake to think someone had stomped on it

Love steps on Scola's face/chest.

NOT stomps.

Intentional or not intentional? No one but KL knows for sure, but it sure looks like he was simply stumbling back to get back on D.

This is NOT Ndamakong Suh. This is NOT Albert Hainesworth. Not even close. Anyone suggesting otherwise is blind.

Plus, KL legitimately and unconditionally apologized. Not “I apologize if I offended anyone” or “I apologize if some people misinterpreted what I said” which is usually the type of PR apology crap one ears about from athletes, celebrities, etc. these days.

This episode has been TOTALLY blown out of proportion.

agree

i watched the video and came to the exact same conclusion.

Yep

Just watched the video as well. He stepped on him and this is getting blown out of proportion.

Complete BS.

He clearly let up and kept the bulk of his weight on his right foot while caught in an awkward landing position after Scola’s flop. Much ado about nothing.

I like it. Scola is a punk, been waiting for someone to get him back for like 4 years.

Gets K-Love some street cred, not that he needs it.

Not really a stomp though. more of a foot. He didn’t even put weight on it.

Griffin is much more of a dirty player than Love too, since that came up. No one would ever point a finger at him for anything though. Because he can jump over the hood of a Kia (which was the most overrated Dunk Contest winner ever).

Glad someone said it

That car (hood) dunk sucked. If you bring a frickin car out, you dunk over the highest point or you find some other prop to use. And Derozan was robbed. Doesn’t get more objective than that when I’m saying a Trogan should have won it.

DFish leveled Scola with a shoulder block a couple of years back during the playoffs.

Consider that. How much of a punk do you have to be for Derek Fisher to want to lay you out?

Haven’t seen the clip, but I’m inclined to side with KL on this one.
