Although not as polished, I think this is a more compelling piece than the recent LA Times article.

Thanks for finding this and sharing it, BruinIslander. I think it’s safe to say that we have taken Scates accomplishments and legacy for granted. I hope that in his final season we will all appreciate him for the great coach, mentor, and ambassador he has been for U.C.L.A.

UCLA has been so lucky to have Coach Scates. And his bumper sticker is almost the BN motto:
Statistics is the best substitute for judgment
But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.
I do hope
that Coach Scates will get to pick his successor and that Chianti Dan will be on another continent when that happens.
Maybe Jeff Nygaard? Man it was fun to watch that guy play…
