Stanford at UCLA Thread: Start of a Bruin Run?
Stanford Cardinal at UCLA Bruins, Feb 9, 2012 8:00 PM PST
Well we have talked about it. If Ben Howland's Bruins want to mount a last ditch effort to save a pathetic season by getting into the tournament, they need to run the table. We should have a genuine shot at closing strong as we start with the soft part of our schedule tonight. Bruins can start a late season run by taking care of business against Stanford. As mentioned by DCBruins the Trees have been tanking in the Pac-12 after a nice start.
The Trees' preview is here. The official UCLA preview is here and game tracker is here. The tip off is scheduled for 8:07 PM (PT). The game will be broadcast on Prime Ticket with Joel Meyers doing play-by-lay, Don MacLean doing color and Courtney Jones reporting from the sideline.
With that let's get the show started. This is your open game thread. Fire away.
GO BRUINS.

I have better things to do...
Good night, all. (Hey, in Kansas it’s two hours ahead of PST.) I had never decided on sleep in favor of late UCLA games until this season. Feels a little odd…but I just don’t seem to care. I’ll catch the post-mortem post-game in the morning.
Roses are red, violets are blue...f*** $C.
can,t say I blame you all that much
Lucky me in California, getting to watch the whole thing…

Prime Ticket?
My channel guide shows that Prime Ticket is gonna have Portland vs. Loyola Marymount…hopefully this is an error.

I'm gonna go out on a limb
and say we win by 15.
It will provide a jolt of (over)confidence, and we’ll promptly lose to Cal by 5 after leading all game.

Announcers are right
isn’t it about time for Howland to call one of his self-defeating time outs while we’re on a run?
I don't know if it's Time Warner or Prime Ticket
but my channel feed is cutting in and out. Really annoying.
This looks like a different team....making stops and making drives to the bucket...
but can they hold a lead?
reading this
made me think Stanford is 8 up on us
Thanks for posting all the scores guys
please also add which team is up if possible, otherwise we’d have to keep going up to check
loveee youuu

Ever notice that the shot clock contestants

We should have a bigger lead.
Anyone have halftime stats? Game tracker does not work on iPad.
Hail to the Hills of Westwood.
Wow. I went over to ESPN.com to cut and paste some stats
and they don’t even have a score for our game. No game tracker, no stats, not even a box score.
Irrelevance is hitting hard.

Now there is a score
But no box score, play-by-play, or photo links.
*sc v Cal and WSU v OSU getting the same degree of neglect. Sigh.

Typical UCLA defense...watching furd take 3's before half, conventional 3 after the half and chipping away
…like all the Pac-12 teams do to the Bruins in the 2nd half…
You were tired.
It’s been a long day. It’s late on the East Coast.
Oh, you mean to our basketball team!
greg in denver, U.C.L.A. guy for life - BruinsNation.com
Bruins 42% from the line. 28% from 3, 51% FGs, rbs even,
Furd=80, 57, 31 respectively.
Hail to the Hills of Westwood.
Josh rakes and risks fouling every time. He's pathological.
Hail to the Hills of Westwood.
He doesn't have any skill moves
Just tries to muscle over you. All a defender needs to do is stand solid in front of him and wait for him to knock you over for a charge every time.
Proably at the game w Casey Wasserman
Luck just signed w the Wasserman group.

It's hard to make this team interesting.
We’ll just get blown out
are you kidding me
we lost the lead after maintaining for most of game again?
I don't think we need to worry about firing Howland
he might die of heart failure with how this team is playing
Cardioversion, the MacGuyver way.
Just need a car battery and a couple metal spatulas.

We make bad decisions with the ball in critical moments.
Our guards aren’t smart, our front court can’t defend
Hail to the Hills of Westwood.
Season is on the line come pac 12 tourney time in my opinion now.
Regular season is just a helper for our resume if we win it.
UCLA and their flipping freethrows!....1-2 isn't very good!
Is any else’s Cable feed cutting out on Fox (FCS)?

indeed
We outplayed UW all game till we choked. UO was a longer collapse but just as painful.

We're back
This will break the logjam in the Pac-12 standings, and leave UCLA in sole possession of 6th place in the conference.
Feels good to be following a program which is thriving under the leadership of Dan Guerrero.
He will be strapping it on tomorrow to figure out how much premium he can charge for basketball, after doing his thing to the football ticket structure.
Jerime has a lot of heart
But he’s the last of that horrendously disappointing class and he wont be missed
I've never seen a team so painful to watch
Soooo painful the Bruins are. -Yoda

I think you are forgetting that it is Howland's fault they aren't hitting them!
Seems a lot of people support that here, right?
Most of the players' shooting mechanics actually look decent
Even Josh Smith has a pretty good stroke. It’s all confidence after that.
Always take a win
And fix the things that need fixing.

At least we came out strong tonight.
If we could figure out how to sustain it.
Been a Bruin since birth
What an ugly game
Whatever, Go Bruins and good night to east coasters who stuck up to watch this atrocity
Not sure if anyone will agree with me
but I think the WSU game was the biggest so far. Winning just a road game was huge
Good job everyone in the thread tonight
Thanks for sticking through this (this game, this season, this AD…).

The same enthusiasm
I really wish, really wish I can see the same enthusiasm I saw today on Saturday. But I have a feeling I wont.
