Video: New Bruin Juco OL Ceachir (SMC) Talks About Choosing UCLA
As promised, here are the links to the interview of Santa Monica College and incoming UCLA OL Alexandru Ceachir and tried to get in as many of your questions as I could. We talked about his home country of Moldova and how he got into football and ended it with how his perception of UCLA change with the hiring of coach Mora.
The interview ran 15 minutes, so I broke it down into 3 parts and his JUCO head coach Gifford Lindheim joined us to talk about Alexandru improvement during his two years with the Corsairs.
The sound is not as ideal as I would have like it due to the use of my flip camera. If you are having some trouble hearing, I would plug a pair of headphones into your computer and that tends to solve the problem.
But enough excuses....enjoy (after the jump)!
My only requests are that you watch the entire commercial before the interviews start and click on a couple of banner ads, as it the one of the ways I make money and can provide this kind of content.
Thanks...the links are below.

What a great kid!
I hope he develops into a dominant O lineman. Maybe he can help recruit some more Big Uglies from over the pond!
Thanks for sharing, Ed
Re Cheach playing soccer: Now I know why soccer players fall to the ground and grab their hammies. If I saw this cat coming at me, with or without a soccer ball, I’d suddenly become injured, too. Echo 4everBruin—what a terrific kid. Welcome to Westwood, Cheach.
Not trying to fill your dance card, Ed, but these kind of one-on-ones with any Bruin football player, or for that matter, any Bruin athlete, period, would be sincerely appreciated by the Bruin community. These are the kinds of interviews that transcend sports. Many thanks for sharing.
The perception of UCLA is changing among potential recruits
Bruinut,
I always enjoy doing these types of interviews and having some interaction with fans. Most of the time I focus on players from the westside like Jerry Johnson and Anthony Stover. Yet summer gets a little slow so I may open things up a bit.
If fans want to know how the perception of UCLA has changed with the hiring of coach Mora, they should listen to the end of part 3. Alex was very honest in his answer and what he likes about the new coaching staff.
Its the same thing I have heard from other high school/JUCO players on the westside, even if they didn’t pick or want to go to UCLA.
The play of the team is really going to determine how well they can recruit next year. Based on my conversations, I don’t think it matters if the Bruins win 7,8, or 9 games, as long as they show signs of improvement and avoid any major blowouts.

Speaking of Jerry Johnson
Do you get to talk to kids after they end up at UCLA. I’d love to hear how he is doing heading into spring ball. I think he showed a lot of promise during the limited action he saw as a Bruin.

Really enjoyed that
Thanks for soliciting questions here and for sharing the interview. Nice job on your end, and Cheach sounds like a great kid. I bet his soccer and martial arts background really help his footwork and athleticism.
And a big thank you back at Ceachir for choosing UCLA. Very happy to have him as a Bruin.
