Patt Morrison's interview in Saturday's Times of Kareem Abdul Jabbar covers a multitude of sports and nonsports topics. Kareem comments on CBH, the state of the NCAA, and NBA players being irresponsible with their wealth. But the intriguing interchange when Jackie Robinson is mentioned goes like this: You went to UCLA perhaps as much because of Jackie Robinson as John Wooden. He was my hero when I was a kid. I rooted for the Dodgers when they were in Brooklyn. I got a letter from him: Did I know he'd gone to UCLA? That was one of the incentives I had. [His letter] said it'd be a great place for me to go to school and get my education. Isn't it grand to be a Bruin?
