Just wanted to quickly post as there is a lot going on recruiting wise. First tonight is the McDonald's All American Basketball game at 9:30 on ESPN. As sbnation reports:
Mar 28, 2012 - The McDonald's All American Game has become a historic event over the years and the UCLA Bruins will be represented well on Wednesday evening.
Five-star forward Kyle Anderson has already given his pledge to join Ben Howland in Westwood next season, while there is a solid possibility that Shabazz Muhammad, arguably the nation's No. 1 prospect, could be joining him as well.
While Shabazz will be playing against Kyle Anderson (hopefully for the last time), Tony Parker will be playing with him. The rosters are here.
For those of you who are concerned about Shabazz's status or his likely "one and done" status. Here are a couple paragraphs on why so many want him so badly (hint it is not because he won the dunk contest):
Amid a storm of hype, huge expectations and controversy, he remains calm at the center, focused on school, his training and an impending college decision. . . .
Muhammad, set to sign April 11, said this week he favors Duke, Kentucky and UCLA over other finalists Kansas and UNLV. . . .
Eligibility concerns aside, Muhammad's discipline is undeniable. His work ethic is the stuff of legend. Just as remarkable, he appears unfazed by the labels placed on him as the next superstar freshman to splash in college basketball.
"I just try to stay humble," said Muhammad, named three weeks ago the Naismith High School Boys' Player of the Year. "I think I'm one of the nicest kids off the court. But when I'm on the court, something turns on. I just want to win."
Shabazz is an AA type who will work hard. Hopefully he will be Bruin.
